U.S. allows states to legalize recreational marijuana within limits

I agree with jack. It is a STEP in the right direction. We should all be happy for this.

Is it going to change anything? That is yet to be seen.

To be honest I am a bit surprised they are addressing this topic at all.

what i see is a white flag
this could be interpreted by states to do whatever they want, DOJ won't get in the way
in reality they know it's not going to trigger a state stampede - yet
but damn, 25 states legalize and it's game over, probably a lot less than that

Exactly. They are TALKING ABOUT IT. Fucking A!, It took about 1/2 the states to legalize alcohol before the government decided to end the prohibition` Think we don't have a voice? WRONG. We just gotta all agree on something. Which doesn't happen often.

All we have to do now, is raise our voices just a decibel or two and the vibrations will ripple throughout, shattering the glass citadels of ignorance.

Well, taxing is just par for the course man. The Big Man has always gotta get his. And I think it should be that way. Schools, roads, protecting our nation. It ain't cheap. Not to say that all tax laws are fair. But taxes are necessary. I'm fine with em taxing it in stores. I just wanna be able to grow it myself. Course I live in the bible belt so, fat chance on my state legalizing it anytime soon.

I'll say it again. We good good intelligent people on our side. People who don't even smoke pot, yet want other people to be able to smoke peacefully and END THE FUCKING BLACK MARKET on it. Which leads to so much crime.

Hope is a good thing to have. This announcement gives me some kind of hope. But hope and false hope are two very similar feelings but two very different things. Until I read a new act, it's proceed as always. Cautiously.

It appears we have a few folks who are new to this rodeo. These are often referred to as focus memos. They come down every 3 months whether the worker bees want em or not. This is just business as usual. Cali dispensaries were allowed to prosper than many were simply rolled up all on the roll of the memos.

Do not let down the perimeter until AFTER it's re-scheduled and THAT won't be until GW Pharma releases Sativex at the earliest. They thought they had it with dronabinol but nope.. So they have had a little harder time with a full cannabinoid solution. They are close. Stage 4 is around the corner. Then hold on because the roller coaster will be at the top of the climb.... it's free fall after the release..... The only question then is how do you like your roller coaster ride, screaming with your hands over your eyes or standing with your hands in the air? Falling is easy, it's that damn deceleration.

I'll expand on that clinical trials bit, Annie.

From Wikipedia:

[h=2]Phases[/h] Main article: Phases of clinical research
Clinical trials involving new drugs are commonly classified into four phases. Each phase of the drug approval process is treated as a separate clinical trial. The drug-development process will normally proceed through all four phases over many years. If the drug successfully passes through Phases 0, 1, 2, and 3, it will usually be approved by the national regulatory authority for use in the general population.

  • Phase 0: Pharmacodynamics and Pharmacokinetics
  • Phase 1: Screening for safety
  • Phase 2: Establishing the efficacy of the drug, usually against a placebo
  • Phase 3: Final confirmation of safety and efficacy
  • Phase 4: Sentry studies during sales
Each phase has a different purpose and helps scientists answer a different question:
Phase 0 trials are the first-in-human trials. Single subtherapeutic doses of the study drug are given to a small number of subjects (10 to 15) to gather preliminary data on the agent's pharmacodynamics (what the drug does to the body) and pharmacokinetics (what the body does to the drugs).[SUP][18][/SUP]
In Phase 1 trials, researchers test an experimental drug or treatment in a small group of people (20-80) for the first time to evaluate its safety, determine a safe dosage range, and identify side effects.
In Phase 2 trials, the experimental treatment is given to a larger group of people (100-300) to see if it is effective and to further evaluate its safety.
In Phase 3 trials, the treatment is given to large groups of people (1,000-3,000) to confirm its effectiveness, monitor side effects, compare it to commonly used treatments, and collect information that will allow it to be used safely.
In Phase 4 trials, postmarketing studies delineate additional information, including the treatment's risks, benefits, and optimal use.
Before pharmaceutical companies start clinical trials on a drug, they conduct extensive preclinical studies.

So phase 4 is after the drug has been brought to market, and that will require descheduling Sativex from Schedule 1 Controlled Substance as a precondition. That imo will be the watershed moment when the coaster comes over top center. Look Ma no hands!

Over 64 cannabinoids working either independently or in combination leaves way too many mathematical combinations for big pharma to even think about replicating our work.

They should have abandoned the effort after marinol.

Precisely and that is why ALL requests for de-scheduling have been declined because pharma wasn't ready.

Let's just say if I had any spare money I would be investing heavily in GW Pharma right now.

So I have a ? for ya annie. Where does big pharma fit in with all out legalization? I mean if it is ever fully legalized nationally, and that a big if. Who would want to get some pharmaceutical knockoff when the real deal can be acquired legally?

This is playing out so much like the opium wars of the '30s. We will all know for sure when Sativex is released and cannabis rescheduled. My guess is if they reschedule to III we may stand a chance to have cannabis legalized. If they reschedule to II I don't think we'll see cannabis legalized in the foreseeable future.

It's a sad tale that's all I have to say.
I will not change my lifestyle, you can call me a criminal or any other moniker that suits, you may throw me in jail but I will not admit fault for there is none, I know better and so do those that write the laws. It does make for a nice puppet show though.

If you want to really help; ..........................look at what Colorado and Washington states have passed and copy it as a prop to get on your states ballet.

The difference they will try and write in is that it is controlled by a few and without personal cultivation. Big business will try and make it more similar to what NJ has done with only 6 locations that are owned by people with influence. That way they help control the money for themselves and not many stores that can be owned by normal citizens.

Heard a story about big money financers talking with senators about how they can write the regulations so that they are the ones with the buildings and grow facilities cutting everyone else out of the picture.

I applied for a position in NJ right after the 6 locations and their owners were approved and they already had everything in place. Master grower position already filled and the owner/ group were all insiders to the politicians. And the fees were at least 20K to be considered as a group ownership but they already had the inside deals so everyone else who paid didn't get their money back and didn't get considered as another business that could operate in the state.

So find out who is trying to get propositions onto the ballets and work with them to write laws and rules that allow for more locations to open and that anyone can own and operate a despensary similar to colorado. And don't let them write out personal grows if you want to be able to do that legally.
Hope that helps

P.S. Agree that until it is rescheduled the statements are just that and provide no liberty or pursuit of happyness..
