Unusual problem......

I'd hope not, but the recipes for Grotek point out that it can be applied as such
In my grow I added it to nutes, but just dump some into the water and guesstimate like I do with most stuff, and sometimes use it as PH UP
Ill be more careful in the future as I thought my damage was from ph too high in my hempy nutes since thats the only pants that had that prob and my soil-less mixes never had it

Yes, that's much easier to work out due to the buffer.. foliar there's no real buffer, it's direct application - is why I was hoping it wasn't foliar.. especially if the light(s) were on.

Could be silica burn, that could be what mine was too as I had the exact same thing with some weird twisting as well, and only on new leaves

Yup, I'm pretty sure that's it too. I've used other Silica products but never Protek's version. I'm guessing it's more concentrated then I'm used to. I flushed the room tonight to be sure.

It's not mites- I went thru the room well thinking the same thing but mites to eat leaves, they just suck the juices from below the leaf. No insects or eggs anywhere.

I'm going to find and post the link to the other site. They did a pretty thorough analysis of the issue and may be helpful to those interested. Give me a few minutes to find it.

Here it is: https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=255136&page=4

And it's only applied in my fertilizer mix drenched thru the pots, nothing hits the leaves.

I went out and looked I use Grotek Pro-silicate.
Hell I might have forgotten to shake the bottle even, that shit needs to be shook well prior to use.

I just looked at some of my other plants...in soil and I see the damage there too.
I am quitting using the silica.

I am switching over to a new nute line that is AAALLLLLin in one and silica will be included and in proper proportions so no more guesswork for me.

I was gonna take a pic of a leaf I tore off but my camera is dead, but trust me the same damage, byt this plant has it to a lesser level than my other ones did.

Glad you figured out it was the silica!

I used another silica product for years and never had 1 problem with it. This crop I switched to Pro-Tek and now this issue......if it is the problem, it will go into the trash!

I orderd it, but I havent tried it yet.
So if you are still interested I will tell you.

U never really know till u try it.

Ill just link the site and tell you what I got.
I wont say its great till after I have used it though.

http://www.kelp4less.com/product-category/nutrient-packs/

http://www.kelp4less.com/shop/b-vitamin-complex/#.UTWWVFeGe_A

I went with the bloom, late bloom and B complex since that was the only thing not in the bloom packs.

Look at the ingredients in them and think of what they replace for so much savings.

Never heard of them.....and no reviews on their website- not a great sign. You would think they would put up a few fake ones to encourage people to buy. LOL

Figuring 2 feedings a week, I would need around 16 lbs. of a bloom and 8 lbs. of the grow. I need to make around 30-35 gallons each watering. It doesn't look cheaper than my Botanicare feeding plan to be honest. But interesting to see what happens.....

They are a small company of a few brothers and mostly sell locally where they are located.
I have no affiliation with the company, but I am very in favor of small business owners changing how things are sold and making a reasonable profit at the same time.

Did you look at all the ingredients?

It has npk, but it has like 9 other things in there
fulvic acid
molasses
ripe blend
endo
myco
kelp
humic acid
extreme blend
k-mag
sop powder

U take each of those things and give it a name like sweet or liquid karma hydroplex strapped silica blast fulvex etc etc...
its ALL in there for one price
Its the same thing with out all then gallons and gallons of water

So sweet raw is 1.5% mg
2.0% sulfer
and 97.5% water

The product works good, but look what you are buying, and all the products from them and every other company are the same way.

Yes, I haven't been shaking the bottle either!!!!! Hum......wonder if that could be it?

Took a few more pics tonight for a mod at another site:
in all honesty that shit looks like what happened to mine with one single caterpillar. made me think my nutes were off cuz i couldnt find his ass forever was only happening to the new growth. he kept going from plant to plant. so all the plant i had in my 4x6 eventually looked like this. :( by the time i found him he was about 2 inches long and eating whole leaves. he would also only attack at night for some reason so it was really hard to find his ass. lmao. that looks exactly like the damage he caused when he was small and couldnt grub the veins of the leaves yet. once the leaves started having huge full pieces out of them he wasnt hard to find but it took about a months time for him to get that big.

not saying its your problem here but they are green as the plants and small so they can be really easy to miss even with close inspection. maybe about 1/4 inch long in the beginning at most and they will eat shit quick even as small guys.

that shit looks wicked tho hope you find out whats up.

Caterpillars has been mentioned a number of times already. The reason I don't believe that's it is because the leaf distorts in color and shape first, then pulls back (rips) to create the holes. Caterpillars would move to the plant next to it, not 5 plants over which is my case. I flushed last night, things are looking great today- no new damage, leafs are at the proper angle showing extreme health........
