Updayday LED thread

Does anyone know how to adjust the timer feature on the UA5000 to run 24hrs on with no dark period? Also, how to run on/off with an external timer on a strip that I have other lights on in the same area?

The manual is not super clear about the meaning of the #1 and #2 timer settings on the display. I'm trying #1 at 24hrs and #2 at 0hrs, but not sure if that's the correct setting for what I want it to do.

I got an updayday ua5000 for 185usd using a discount code on the deals thread. I hung it up and turned it on in Sun spectrum mode. I definitely like the light. At the discounted price it's a good deal. Just trying to figure out the settings.

I'll appreciate any tips and tricks.
Dude that is one hell of a deal! Post some pics of that dank you grow with it eh?

UpDayDay has been using different tech then regular leds for awhile now. There's the voltage to the diodes change between spectrums rather then diodes being off or on, they all get used just at different power levels between veg+bloom. They have sunset/sunrise built in with built in timer. Also the cmh spec one has the vdp analysis sensors and ability but I've never used it. I'd imagine that setup would be good for someone in a tent, saving them $ on digital sensors. They also carry nice spectrums and the newest ones have several variable spectrums to choose from. Way ahead of most expensive options. All daisy chainable and can run the one as the main controller for several as they all link. Very bright with pivoting bars. Ppfd's are actually better then my HE QB's at the same wattage. Probably has allot to pivoting bars but straight down it was too. I feel the Reflectors have allot to do with the par numbers being so high. The 400w models cover a 3x4' plant well and have yielded 2# plants in a crosslit situation.
Yes, they are inexpensive and the connections or aluminum hooks that link the cmh spec light power supply to the bars are thin and can snap if pressuring them crooked but that's about it. Military time can be a bitch but you only need to do it once in order for sunset/sunrise to function. It held the time and continued to work even when I connected it to the main timer. Must have a rechargeable battery in there.
They're pretty high tech, service is good too. These are the nicest inexpensive leds I've ever grown with.
I'm glad to see this thread here if I haven't said it already! Nice work growers! :clap:View attachment 5245258View attachment 5245259View attachment 5245261View attachment 5245262View attachment 5245263

Are those Amare lights hanging beside it?

This run is not dank by any means. I do outdoor for the most part. These are cuttings that I rooted off my outdoor plants 6 months ago. They've been mistreated, rootbound, hacked back many times, underwatered, and underfed. The purpose of this run is to attempt making fem seeds.

They came off of these plants. I got lots of reg beans from these too.....

It looks like setting timer #1 to 24hrs and timer #2 to 00hrs did achieve the desired result of 24hrs on light.

Got the light in and put it in my 32x32 a bit of a tight fit. I did two ppfd maps 16" & 36". First time doing these so most likely not perfect.

Light work good no issues yet. I don't really need the Sensors as I have my own setup with HA to control hummifier , Heater, & fan.

Well I hit my closet record of 1lb. (16.5 oz actually) and felt like sharing. Up till now my top was 14ish oz. Updayday has been running for a year continously and still doing its job.
Strains are Granddaddy Purple and Cream Mandarine. Cream Mandarine is dense af. Have had hints of mold with 2 harvest now. Going to switch it for a gorilla strain when that seeds ready

Great job! They look frosty as hell:weed:. Its awesome how much these strains can produce these days. I just pulled down 1 GG4 that gave 125 g and have 2 more to go. Should be about 6-7 more zips. I need more light if im to be pulling a pound! Damn dude you picked some beautiful strains. Thanks for the bud porn! Indica in the morning! Cant wait for the lights to come on so i can play with mine.

Hello,

I'm trying to set the internal timer time on my UPDAYDAY-UD-4000. I know how to set the light so it's 18 on 6 off but can't find the time.

How do I program the light to come on at 6:00AM and off at Midnight using the internal timer? Can you give me a clue?

I have a guess but thought to ask.

I haven't messed with it enough. I just got it to where it was 24/0 and didn't mess with it more.

Thx.

The way I figure it one option is to turn that light on at 6:00AM set to 18/6 or there may be a way to set the light to 18/6 then back-hour from the time I plug it in to the correct "on" time.

I don't know what happens to the timer in cases of power failure. I don't have battery backups.

Will continue to investigate.

The ua5000 model I got has an accessory external battery pack for preserving the settings in memory. It looks like a small black box with a wire that plugs into the light housing.

I want to use the sunshine mode (dawn/dusk) and the manual explains sunshine mode won't work when the fixture is on an external timer but the plants will need accurate timing so I' see no option but to put the fixtures on an external timer and not use use the sunshine mode. Ver. 1.

Clicking through the buttons I can set the fixture to 18 on and there's another setting that allows the changing of hours but there's no definition of what hours are being changed. Sometimes when I clicked around and "set" this digit the fixture turned off. I guess I got version 1.

The manual does say when changing timer settings it takes 4 seconds for the software to write so if the manual is correct I assume it's writing to a chip, batteries not required?

writing to a chip
Depends if it is volitile. If volitile, it's like RAM in a computer that does not hold the state when you power off. If non-volitile m then the setting persists.

Try inputting a setting different than any possibke default. Then, unplug the light. Wait a few minutes. Plug in, and see if the setting is still the same.

On the ua5000 it looks like you can set the light cycle with the sunrise/sunset transition. Then, put it on an external timer with the same length of lights-on time. When you give power to the light fixture, then the sunrise transition period on the lamp begins, so you can give it power arbitrarily at any time (using an external timer set to your choice of clock hours). That will begin the cycle you have programmed into the light's on-board controller. It should run through the sunrise routine, full light setting, sunset.

Any time you unplug power (or the external timer cuts the power) then restore the power, the light begins a new cycle at sunrise.

To test this, make sure you have verified the first test above to see that your settings in the on-board timer persist after power is cut and then restored. If the settings do persist, then set the sunrise/sunset setting. Turn off the power externally. Restore power externally. Observe if it starts into the sunrise setting. Wait for it to comolete sunrise and get to full power. When at full power, cut the external power, and repeat the procedure to see if when you restore power the light starts up at the beginning of the sunrise routine.

Troubleshooting done. Unplugged, after 4-5 seconds,*snap-pop* sound (waited a minute). Plugged back in, snap-pop sound, turned unit on, settings persist. Repeated, same. A page from the manual attached.

I think the plugging in of the unit begins a 24 hour clock. This is the "zero" hour. It looks like the unit can be 'delayed start' a set amount of hours from that 'zero' hour.

Meaning if the unit is plugged in at the whole hour of 3:00PM and I want the light to fire at 6:00AM I'd 'delay' the start 15 hours. If plugged it in at 3:15PM there is no way to set to fire at the whole hour of 6:00AM. ?? Still investigating.

Thx.

Why not just use a regular timer?
