Yeah, I’m not growing organically because I think it’s healthier...I trust science too much to fall for that. The reason I decided to try organic was because another local grower told me he finds it easier to manage and harder to screw up. He told me not to expect any difference in growth but he said he thought it was just a less stressful way to grow.

if its working well for you no matter what nutes you use it wont be stressful. personally using a tablespoon scoop in each 5 gal of water 1 time a week or so an just water the rest of the time is as simple as it gets an I don't like to spend more time than I really have to

The only stress I get from salt based nutrients is trying to ride that line of feeding enough, but not too much. But, with the organic grow, I now stress about keeping the soil more moist than I did with salt based nutrients and not letting it dry out too much. Either way, though, I think it’s a good idea for everyone to try both methods, because I’ve learned more about how the plants deal with nutrients while learning how to grow organically.

Blue mats were a game changer for me. That and cover crops with a nice layer of straw mulch.

ive taken a less is more attitude. I don't feed until the leaf fades. I don't try to be "perfect" because its better to underfeed than over feed. I run a perpetual grow so new ones are always going into rotation and if one batch under performs its not a big deal. with chem nutes the nutrients get to work really fast so letting them get hungery doesn't matter so much but with organics the plant takes longer to eat the complex food.

That and you really need raised beds or large containers to truly get the benefits from a healthy micro herd. Not to mention the time required for bioavailability.
Randomly mixing a bunch of dry amendments is pointless if you're not testing and recycling your soil.

Might as well grow in Fox Farm. At least then you can top dress or just finish em off with sups.

Edited bc I know FF gets a bad rap but its actually pretty good soil. I've used it with just tap water and had decent results. I did have to use some gnatrol for the fungus gnats tho.

Crap, now you've got me wondering how well my first grows going to go! LOL Im trying soil topping with fishmeal/kelp every 2 weeks veg and just some rock phosphate /bloom booster powder whatever during flower. Should I start out with salt based nutes instead?
