*** VEGANICS With DR. VonDank ***

I have been vegan for many years now and have also tried veganic gardening. I consider worm castings to be vegan though (only if you are obtaining them yourself, meaning no bagged!), because there isn't any exploitation going on in me collecting the worm castings. All of my vegan leftover scrap go into the worm bin, and out comes the black gold that makes my soil thrive. The same way that I don't consider raising your own animals for slaughter to be wrong, or hunting for food to be wrong either (not saying its vegan, I just don't see anything wrong with it if you can stomach doing it). I'm not a fan of trophy hunting, but if you are going to hunt for food, then I see no problem in it. But I know that 'some' vegans (mainly from the PETA mafia) see even hunting (something that native americans and hunter/gatherer tribes have been doing for thousands of years) as wrong. I'm sorry, I'm just not that dogmatic. And PETA are a bunch of self-rightous fringe dogmatists that makes all vegans look bad and one of the central reasons why veganism is frowned upon (besides for the strange fact that most omnivores seem 'threatened' by vegan lifestyle, and will bash it to no end, but at no time will look into the horrible things that go on inside of factory farms & slaughterhouses.)
Thank you for taking the time to post. I'm not a vegan but have zero ill feelings towards those that are. I will not be using worm-castings in this grow by choice but can understand the point you made about home-breed wigglers being considered vegan. This grow is using---------rock powders---minerals---alfalfa meal---cottonseed meal---seaweed---plant derived base for N/P/K----simple and complex carbs(sugars)----beneficial fungi and bacteria----and enzymes. If you could post any tips on this thread from your vegan grows that would be very helpful and appreciated...Best of grows to you...

Picked up some alfalfa meal(vega super booster--lol) and cottonseed meal from the local bursary. Will post pics---Going to brew a fresh batch of vega-brew tea. I will use the GH vega tea and also mix fresh cotton and alfalfa meal in the brew with some cal/mag and some seaweed. I will bubble the tea for 24 hours and then add some beneficials before I chill the mix to 68(optional). Going to post some pics with the steps in the next couple of days...

Have any soil recipes for this? What kind of mix are you using? You say you are using minerals and such, at what kind of ratios? Been doing the organic thing for many years now, but would love to switch over to veganics. The CRUELTY free way to grow! haha

Do you build up a soil, or do you use teas to feed? What kind of ratios of teas do you use? Thanks again! Great thread!

You can flush if you want and any size container will work. I have done the veganics in 3gal grow-bags/5gal buckets/7 gal buckets/10gal grow-bags/ and now 32 gal trees without drainage. I have mixed allot of my own fermented plant material nutes but this run I am using the vegan line from canna----BIO...I'm going to attach some pics but waiting for a cord to go from my cam to computer...I love everything about veganics and so do the plants. The smell and taste is the same as organic but the smoke is always silky smooth and ultra clean for med pats...

First off I have to say thanks to Dr. V, great thread!

Veganics is the ultra pure natural way to grow. I learned about is from Kyle Kushman, and three rounds later I'm totally convinced. Hello vegan organics, good-bye my old friend organics. Vegan organics delivers more colorful pigment development, higher levels of cannabinoid development, more pathogen resistance, safer ingredients, cleaner smoke, stable pH, I could go on.

Veganics is cleanest smoke ever. Let's not debate lifestyle choices because this is not about what we eat. This is about making medicine intended to enter directly into the lungs as vapor/smoke + particulates.

What is going on with the Bio Terra Plus? Unavailable in the US for months. They for sure had fungus gnat issues, possibly from the bark. But that was no biggie. Anyone know anything about it? And what other media are my fellow veganic american gardeners using for now?

Sharing is caring:
- feed, feed, feed with veganics, especially in the plus or a bulk peat/perlite mix.
- microbes, always brewing.
- let the pot dry out between feeding (to kill gnat larvae, see below).
- BT: dunks for trays/dehue, liquid form for watering in. gnat larvae=bad for roots
- feed heavy (again, especially if you run CO2), don't drop out the N too early.
- no worries: good-bye pH pen, so long washing hands after watering, see you later mask for mixing dirt, its been fun ppm meter. i don't need you anymore.
- feed all mixed nutes asap, and flush hoses/lines
- there are lots of "vegan" supplements out there, read labels and look for plant extracts

I don't know if the OP, Dr. VonDank is still posting, but this is the same thing I posted on Matt's Veganics thread.

Bio Terra Plus includes a starter fertilizer charge derived from animal products, bone meal, etc.
