Voidling's Wicking Bed

Those were actually looking really good for my small cab, minus burning them. Much better looking than the previous (first) apollo run. I was giving them less water and less nutrients.

Next run definitely needs a screen to keep the bus from growing into the light

Yeah I'm doing better in those respects. My garden is down due to broken light. Trying to get fall vegetable garden going. What's up with you?
 
Good news is I got some free pressure treated wood from an old deck to build a frame for a cab. Bad news is I still haven't got the money for the light :(
 
What's up Void! Saw Owl twice this weekend... poor guy is in a bad way hope he figures something out. I'm pretty much done with your 400w I might use it for another couple of days but at this point everything's out from under my big lights so the veg girls are going in there as i'm getting them transplanted into bigger pots. So let me know when you're gonna be down in austin anytime soon and we can meet up for me to get it back to you along with your final rental payment ;)
 
If I get my truck finished I'll probably be south Saturday evening maybe to Sunday morning.

Sounds like he's getting plenty of work at least. but outside of that yeah. I'm wondering if he could stash safely, I could help him out a little. Wish I could get the money for the new light and replacement parts. Running out of money for legit urgent needs so can't funnel any of that for the light.
 
I think he's trying to be good and avoid stashing any... I offered to give him some but he didn't take it up... his in laws found his seed bank and got rid of it, so i'm sure if they find a stash it's only gonna make things worse. He's pretty frustrated. Sat/sun sounds fine just text me before you head in
 
Yeah he told me about that. He's not emailed back in a couple days. Sent him a job posting that I thought he may like.

Looks like those plans fell through unfortunately :(
 
He's been getting to my place but guess it's not his vehicle as it's not the same one he was in before... didn't think to ask him what happened to it, but it was in pretty rough shape. I hope he is able to get them into a new place of their own before I go out of town... i know he's dieing to get out of there. Never been in that exact situation but I know it would suck ass...
 
So I got some clones and borrowing an led light.

Clones I'm going to veg out to make more clones.

I'm going to adjust my little water manifold and do 12/12 from seed using my romulan seeds. I will mix in garden lime and then use only aquarium water and see how it goes.

My light went out mid flower and I never emptied the cabinet. Now I have really dry really early bud. Should I just throw it in the compost bin or would it work for baking?

Im just plodding along at an easy pace until i move. Hope you fix the LED, how long ( as in life ) did it go ok for ? i was looking at them for a bit, but think a vert. cooltube will be better for my limited space again untill i shift out here haha.

Glad all else is good though Pal, im no 3 bad either :-p
 
Was 1.5 ~ 2 years old. I didn't go with a reputable brand either so got what I paid for I suppose. My problem is that hps puts out to much heat for my situation. I have a 400w digital dimmable but even at 200w to much.

Spent money I was saving for a bigger replacement on a girl, shouldn't of done that. Should not have done that.
 
So in preparation for starting up again figured I'd get this going again.

Planned Improvements:

Building a screen to scrog. Bamboo skewers were a pain in the ass. The only advantage to skewers with lst is for sexing plants. On a screen would be difficult to pull out a male without screwing up some other plants.

Water irrigation needs some change.
When watering from the bottom, the perlite floats up between to the two totes causing some warping of the sides.

When using the pvc manifold it's impossible to get uniform coverage. One problem is clumping of soil and blockage of the holes, so I will be rotating the holes to leak out the side, but this will cause some permanent water storage in the manifold itself. I may also drill out a larger hole on each section in order to water faster. I previously would have to water in small quantities to keep it from backing up and overflowing out the inlet. I'm also considering the use of blumats instead.

I previously was counting on wicking of the perlite. I think some cloth or some such needs to be added to the bottom of the perlite container and up into the coco container to improve the wicking action. Not sure I'll personally add it here, but would recommend for a new setup, I'm just too lazy to add it now.

Since my chinese led died I've been shut down. I now have 2 CXA3070 leds running at 1.4 amps each for nearly 50w each. I'm putting these in my flower cab.
