I have water cooled strips and everyone tells me it's not needed with strips. I know that and I don't care! I didn't do it for efficiency, I water cooled so I can put the heat where I want it and simply because I could! I thought, I'm going to build a frame, so why not put water through it?
It works like a charm and there is enough surface area on the 1/2" square tube to cool passively. I can run with or without the water and if the pump or something fails it's not an issue. I think the double row Samsung strips would go quite well with water cooling.

Not dimensionally. Two strips would require two tubes or one wider, heavier and more expensive tube. The double row strips would be OK on 3/4" or 1" tube.

No, not really. The single row strips are 18mm wide and the double row strips are 38mm wide. so dimensionally, 2 singles is the same as one double.

A DR strips is 3,8mm wider as two SR strips next to each other(39,8 vs. 2x 18mm) so it fits on the same tube.

I was thinking of the spacing between the rows of diodes, only 10mm on the double row. I use a tube narrower than the strip, the heat is in the middle.

Also doesn't matters, the heat from the diodes will be the same as long as they run at the same wattage.

Doesn't really matter - 1 inch tube (25mm) would still cover both rows on two 18 mm strips.

The heat of the diodes goes first into the PCB and from there over the aluminum of the tubes into the water. There is no direct thermal pass as you know it from discrete Cree or Osram diodes.

--- of course there is a direct path --- as you know from a picture, posted last year.without drilling a "door" for the heat - Tj of any chip is much higher, due to the higher thermal resistance of the thermal grease or glue and the thickness of your metal tube.

Well, I'm not saying it's not possible. If he plans to drill holes below the strips, then in that case closed, wider strips would of course be beneficial.
But I have not read anywhere that he has planned something similar...

Ok. - with watercooled led lightand light-heat-cogeneration
it`s possible to recover ~60% of the inverted electr. watts
as hot water - to use it in a builings`energy management or whereever.
So in combination with heatexchanger, pv-panels or wind energy it`s not only a very good buisness to substitute oil or gas heaters - it`s also a perfect way to cool down the whole planet.
Assimilating CO² with photosynthesis in a (little ) greenhouse is the reverse process
of burning fosiles.
( and a discreet way to fuck Donald in his clean coal ass)Plants themselves are excellent cooling towers to cool down the atmosphere.
Looking to deforestation, temperature and the deserts of the planet, it's time to plant an apple tree every day.

How are you transferring heat from the cooling water to your domestic hot water? Are you pre-heating water in a tank before the regular water heater?

in the moment i use an electric boiler with integrated heat exchanger (80L, € 165,-)
I never use the plug to heat up the water - with ~ 300W watercooled led light during
~15h (4,5 KWh) i can prepare my daily need of ~80L / 2 pers. With a closed loup and
3W aquarium pump (200L/h, 0,3bar)
so i leave ~3KWh in the boiler and only ~1,5KWh in my grow room. (as light + rest of the heat)
