It wouldn't do anything but good, it will cost you lots of money though. I go with just tap water myself and don't have any problems with it.

im not sure what a dwc is but distilled water has not minerial and nutrrients so theres no point using it if it to feed the plants. but a dwc is probly something differnt anyways, so what is it?

Definitely a good idea. Do use CalMag if you use RO or distilled. Both these kinds of water will help keep the ph of your setup more stable (a HUGE consideration) but when you use it for your water....you know exactly what your plants are getting.

Many peoples' tap water is fine to use. I have well water....and no matter what could not keep the ph stable until I switched to RO. There is also the matter of unknown chemicals in your water that go right to your plants.

Yep...it costs more than your tap. But believe me....you'll thank me later. ;)

Once again....Much more expensive...R/O & Cal-Mag.

Try a grow with tap and see what you get BEFORE spending all the extra $. Unless you just like to spend 1st.

R/O water really isn't THAT expensive. if you get a R/O system, yeah that's expensive but i get water for about $1 a gallon once every 10 days or so. go to your local fish store and usually you can get some there or they can tell you were to get it.

This is true......good to try first. I've found that using RO or distilled in a hydro system is worth the extra money (and for me personally....the only way I can keep ph stable) but can't really say for soil.

PS...RO water for me forever!! :peace:

What nutrients do you use?

Hi ngthumb,

I like the botanicare line myself...pro grow et al plus my CalMag. The one part mixes suit my lazy self just fine. I think yieldwise you'd probably get a little more from the 3 part nutes but they just plain scare me.....too many number and mixtures to mess up. :)

I just use ionic grow bloom and boost myself. I use only tapwater and the ph rarely moves. Its pretty good stuff.

We actually have well water...and I think that plays a part too w/ph. I've kept fish for several years and have ALWAYS had the ph issue....tried different mediums, etc etc....even hydroton itself seems to react strangely with my water (i use higromite rocks now)

I see you have a big list of straiins you grow/grew. Have you ever grown the Church and if so...what do you think of it?

I haven't grown it to date, not been a strain i've really noticed too much, i got the big bang from greenhouse 5 x fem, seeing how that goes, but they not really priority.

Your kp's friend right, she mentioned you early when i chatted to her on yahoo,

Same here, R/O all the way. But when using it cal-mag or equal is needed. Just go easy to start. A few drops per gallon goes along ways. Also if growing in soil wait until week 3 or so of to start with the cal-mag, most soil has enough o get them started and use to nutes.
