way early, but trichs look good

So today marks 6 weeks of flowering for my 3 plants. I'm growing Jacky White, which according to the seed packet has an 8 week flowering period. Inner leaves are just starting to yellow and die, the hairs are about 40% red and everything seems to be on track. Here's the catch, today I checked them under 200X magnification and the trichs seem to have changed to amber. Ive been checking them every few days, up until a week ago they were crystal clear, then last time I began to see the cloudy milky coloring, and now all of the sudden Amber.

What should I do,
A. wait 2 more weeks anyway...
B. Harvest the largest nugs, leave the underdeveloped inner ones...
C. Chop them down, its time...

I should add that while this is not my first grow, its the first time Ive used a microscope to check the trichs, previously I just watch the hairs and count the weeks.

Thanks for the advice, I'm just a little nervous about cutting them down this early, or letting them go when the trichs look ready. :bigjoint:

I'm on my first grow waiting for that magic moment.. I wouldn't argue with trichs, myself. How's your light in your microscope? That high of magnification need to be well-backlit.

the scope has a lousy light but its so bright in the room it always looks ok... i know its not just a scope issue because previously they always looked crystal clear

If I were you, I'd be trimming bud leaves by now.

Hey jc042, You are a difficult point in the grow.Knowing when to cut according to trich color is very tricky. We are at the same point with 2 plants.1 we cut at 7 weeks, the trichs were mostly cloudy with some amber on her. That was looking at individual buds from top to bottom. We also cut bottom buds that were more done first.then mid to top buds a couple days later, and finally the main cola last.We were trying to take this plant early for a more up/head high rather than a comatose high. The second plant is going into week 9 and her buds are filling in way more than the 1st plant did.The bottom of the plant is showing done but towards the top is not.My understanding is that the plant does get to a point where the thc in the trichs is breaking down(amber)and turns into different substances that are more narcotic effect. My understanding is also that you can let the plant go too long and effect the potency.Sort of like over ripe fruit on a tree does.I would cut a few buds off lower branches.and let the rest go.Then you can determine yourself whst you like better.I will try to find a link to where I read about best time to harvest. A couple pics of plant 2 shes getting cut soon.:peace:

Heres a link to a good thread by fdd.Its all about over ripe buds or not.
fdd this was a very good read by the way.I am new to growing and I do believe we took plant 1 early.Being new to growing,we dont know "the done look".Yellerz(on RIU) is my partner and these plants are hers that I help her with.We both get as much good info as possible to make decisions with these girls. She seems to think they can be over done.I am going to show her your thread and try to get her to think other wise.I would like to get her to wait to cut Mary(plant 2).The pics above are good bagseed started from seed.We are pretty sure its northern lights.
So Fdd looking at our plant we still have a ways to go? 1 week, 2?
Im not trying to hijack your thread jc042.Just trying to help with good info.
RIU is the place to find it. Hers the link to fdd's thread:mrgreen:https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/111444-anyne-ever-smoked-overripe-buds.html

when the lights came on i went to take some pics, and looked at more buds than i did last night. i found many that were still only milky and cloudy and i have pretty much decided to wait at least another week, but hopefully make it through the full 8 week flowering period. Heres a few pics I took, they came out lousy, its hard to keep an image focused on the screen for long enough to take a pic, and pics of the screen dont come out too well. I still thought they were interesting enough to post. If anyone can give any insight based on these pics i'd still love to hear it. Also, I think perhaps the tinted light from the high pressure sodiums makes them seem slightly more amber than they really are. this effect would have to be minimal however becase in the begining they looked clear like water. Tell me what you think.

Hey Jc, When I look at the trichs,I cut a pc. of leaf off close to the bud. From the bottom, the middle, and top.I write top and bottom on paper. Place them on a table on a sheet of white paper. Then looking becomes way easier. And you can get an amber tint from the lighting reflecting off brown or reddish areas of the bud when your looking at the plant itself.Give it a try and see what you think.:leaf:
