Welp... Got some kind of outdoor pests or some kind of deficiency already..

those are the same nematodes I buy they have always arived alive I just received another box just this week so if you have 30 ladys you are going to need a couple boxes
they arive in a butter type plastic container with vermiculite in it mix it up when you receive it
water your plants get soil moist they can die if its dry sprinkle out a couple tablespoons of mix out on the top of your soil then water the nematodes in after

nematodes wont work to my knowledge on foliage

I find preadator mites stick around real well even out doors

thrips are kinda crapy to fight you want to kill all of them asap so their gone before flower if you do they wont be back as long as you dont nuke the nematodes as long as you keep the soil moist the nematodes could be there forever they reproduce fast

if you have 30 ladys you are going to need to get busy it could be alot of labor to get rid of them treat them just like mites spray every leaf soap drys thrips out real quick a weed sprayer and some dawn dishsoap is your best friend reaply every few days thrips life cycle is not very long so new larve will appear quickly

if they appear in flower use dawn or castle soap luckly thrips dont atack the tops as bad as other pests

Dump a inch layer of horticultural sand on top, or DE.
another thing to add is they HATE airflow, get a good recirculating fan in there also.

My soil isnt crawling with anything thats whats weird... I agree, It def looks like mites, but like I said, I've had mites in the past, it's def not. I do believe it is severe thripe damage, and its getting worse.. Thank god my stuff arrived today from the mail.
Thanks for the advice, but im just going to go with nematodes and neem oils. And just an Fyi, my plants are outdoor.

Damn.... So much for getting on some hardline when off of work tonight lol!! Im gonna be doing this for the next feww hours. My nemtoads as well as 1500 lady bugs just arrived today. I saw them when I went home for lunch. IM curious though, so a few teaspoons sprikled across the top of moist soil, so should I water just slightly all my plants, then sprinkle 2-3 teaspoons each plant, and then go back around and re-water it into the soil? As for the foliage, I will use neem oil, I swear by this stuff, its the best foliage spray ive ever used when it comes to spider mites, I assume it will be just as effective against thripes, although I will double check on that. Other than that I have 1500 lady bugs, Im sure a few hundred are dead, but from a quick glance a majority of them, if not all seem to be alive. I will water with nematodes and then apply bunched of lady bugs to every single plant as precisely as possible.
Would the method with the nematodes sound correct? and as well as neem oil and lady bugs? If any thing I will try your dish soap method, but only if I find out my neem oil wont be as effective against thripes. Thanks again for the help man, I really appreciate it.

Also, I wanted to double check, will my nutrients kill the nematodes? I mean so far im just using minor nutes once a week, but when it comes time to flower, I will be adding a good bit of different organics via watering. I'm afraid my nematodes will be killed??

if you use neem you will probably harm the lady bugs so if you do use neem and lady bugs just dont use them at the same time soap can be sprayed and as soon as dried lady bugs can be released ive sprayed my lady bugs with soap before and havent killed them the thrips are a super soft body insect soap drys them out real quick

Ok, I did what you said did a half cap of soap into a gallon of water and it way to soapy so I dumped half out and then refilled with water, I fill that was at a pretty good yet diluted enough level. Anyways, gave every inch of my foliage almost a drenched spray of my plants. I then applied the nematodes which, I was only able to put 2 Teaspoons per plant and 3-4 I didn't have enough yet.. I will order more on Friday as soon as I get paid.d I will then add more to the ones that haven't gotten it yet, plus some extra re distributed as well as for my indoor veg room with all the mothers just to be safe. Anyways, after I applied the nematoads, I let the leaves dry off for about a half hour to an hour, and then applied the lady bugs. I'll admit, this packege they came in was really weird, and very hard to get them out accordingly without a good bit of them crawling all over your hands and up your arms lol! Anyways, I took a spoon and put about a spoon full on each plant. Most fell and stayed on the soil.. But others were all over the leaves, so lets hope this does the trick. I went out this morning and seen many lady bugs still on the plants. But it literally looks like 60% of them are gone or flown away..

One thing I'm concerned about, is I noticed some plant with a shit load of lady bugs on them, and others that just had a few. I'm assuming that the ones with the most lady bugs were thus the most infested. However, when they are done with that 1 plant, will they fly to the next? I'm hoping they will clean the entire 30 plants before flying away.

Also, I'm in the mountains, I didn't think of this till now, but at times there is a shit load of blue jays hopping and flying around my area, and my yard especially.. Should I expect to come home from work today and see 0 lady bugs? lol!

the lady bugs will hop from plant to plant as needed for food they will dig in the soil for bugs also so thats normal ya idk about the birds lol but the lady bugs should start to mate witch will help in the long

ahh your plants are OUTDOOR?
gotcha... that's transient insect damage then.. leafhoppers or baby grasshoppers. I've seen like three different type of weird plant-eating insect that do that outside.. my bad, I thought it was inside..
Collateral damage man, can't do much to keep those away from your plants because they treat your plants like a drive-through....
they pull up.. eat their fill... and take off.
I DOUBT it's thrips... not outside...

actually that flying bug is a preadator of the the pest thats eating those leafs that bug looks alot like a small Lace Wing they are preadator bugs their larvae eat soft body insects like spider mites, thrips, aphids, exc and their larvae

that reminds me Lace Wings are real good to fight off those thrips

I can PROMISE you that that insect pictured eats your leaves exactly like a grasshopper does, only it's tiny.
I literally watched them do it with my own eyes..
You may be thinking of a different insect?

AWESOME! Thank so much guys! I will look into using nematodes and predator insects. The only issue, im really freakin worried, all of my plants are starting to flower... I didn't think they would start to flower till about the 15th or 20th of Aug. But, this is my first outdoor grow in this area/climate, and im 2000 ft higher in elevation... Whole different ball game... I'm really screwed as I was already behind as it is with my veg.. Now im REALLY BEHIND! Dang.... I'll be lucky to get 2-3 ounces per plant .
Anyways, I came home from work when I first released the lady bugs and every single freakin 1 was gone... Not sure if the birds got them or if they just flew away, but every single one, gone... I honestly feel like they didnt even do anything... The leaves still look thirpey.... I was planning on getting a different predator insect this time. Was curious, between lace wings and predator mites, which would work better? Thanks again guys.

ive used preadator mites indoor with great success out door they dont have wings so they cant fly away lol
lace wings are a great predator but they do have wings if your lady bugs took off they might also

Ok thanks. Another quick question before I purchase some, how do you apply these now? Are they just a bunch of ants that I scoop onto a leaf and then let em do their thang? Also, Once they are done feasting on the thripes and whatever else, do they just die off? They wont in turn start feeding on the plants themselves will they? they will move on after all of the bugs are gone they wont harm your plant

they come in the same stuff the nematodes do and have instructions on how to apply ....just sprinkle on the fan leafs
