Hi dear rollituppers! First post, first grow. Got a couple bagseeds and decided to experiment. I germinated the seedlings in October and only two survived, so I decided to give them full attention. I planted them outside and fed them some crushed nutrient supplements and boy, did they flourish! I'm literally struggling to keep them from going higher than the 6 foot wall!

So the problem is: they started showing male preflowers:wall: And the light regime isn't a full 12/12 yet but the flowers are blooming

My question is, is there anything I can do to get at least something from my hard work? Can I at least get them to 'hermie' and develop calyxes? 'Cause I'm literally already crying I really went all out on these babies.

When the flowers come out take a plastic bag and cut off some and keep it somewhere safe in the bag. When your next plant is a female and budding, go get said bag and tie it around one branch of your plant very carefully for a few hours. Remove bag and wet branch bag was on.
You now have millions of seeds.

Man that's heartbreaking! There's not really anything I can suggest to get female flowers from them. You'd have to just try again. If you really want to increase your odds you need to either get fem seeds or plant more and keep them alive. I usually plant about twice as much as I have space to flower. My condolences to your grow but I seriously hope you keep trying.
Also I hope you realize you can keep them short but that won't hide the smell. If you're worried about neighbors it might be for the best that those beasts are male.

It sure is, I guess there's nothing I can do! But on the bright side, considering they're straight male, I know I have good genetics. And fem seeds are the way, just hard to access where I'm from. And considering this is a first grow, I'm happy with the way they panned. Shears it is! It's just that I had heard from somewhere that a straight male can hermie, and I just wanted some good ol' bud

The smell is quite prominent actually but close to the trees

Owkayy... So is there a specific method of preserving the pollen or just the bag and a cool, dark place will do?

Dry, it's got to be dry and sterile. If you look up tutorials people use flour or other dry substances to help hold the pollen and keep dry for months on end. If you're growing outside and are waiting till next season this may not be the way. Might be easier to grow males and females and use the pollen from that batch.

You answered your own question. its a numbers game and you got unlucky. now you know what males look like and to get rid of them ASAP, especially if they're around female. unless you want to make seeds. simple enough.
