what do you do for CO2?

Co2 is a waste of time and money if you dont have your set-up dialed in for it. For the average grower the ambient levels of Co2 in the air we breathe is plent sufficient enough for plants to thrive.
I pretty much agree..so many guys add co2 buckets because they are fighting high temps, and they have heard that with co2 temps can run higher. Temps can be higher with co2, but only if you have really high light output to drive the "machine".

Put co2 in a 4x4 tent with one 400 watter and no ventilation to try and compensate for the 90 degree temps..wasting your time...

Anyone water cool their lights?
I was going to. After reading all I could, I decided that the light lost from having to shine through the water, make it less effective than air cooling. Plus, you need quite a reservoir of water to recirculate.

sealed room, minigen co2 generator, 2-1000w vertical lights. cost average of $11 per month for co2 yields about 4-6oz more per harvest. know ur room and know ur strains.

save ur money, water cooling lights is tricky and expensive waste. hell, reflectors, ducting and exhaust fans are a huge waste also and totally unneeded. why go to the trouble of indoor growing if u dont have complete control of the enviroment.

In a small room, even 10 x 10, a critter will help. It's whay they say talking to your plats helps..it's not the sound of your talking, it's the co2 you are exhaling...
as i totally agree here..

the sounds has a place too.. it has been my plan to find a frequency machine somehow and do tests on vigor while playing differing frequencies for them.

not.. "music" --well maybe music set to specific frequencies.. but we're all animals and plans that are based on frequency - could be interesting!

Yea, the "frequency" thing amounts to vibration, which force stems and stalks to grow sturdier...a constant fan breeze does the same thing.

A nail in the stem to increase potency has valid theory too..not the way i'd do it, but anything that causes stress towards the end of flowering, will cause the plant to increase resin production in an attempt to catch pollen and procreate before it dies.

I prefer low humidity and colder night temps, along with a little nitrogen starvation towards the end...but the bottom line is stress on the plant causes a "hurry up" response. plus I find that running them out of nitrogen shuts off chlorophyll production sooner, and improves flavor. In nature, a plant dies as it ripens..too many people think a plant should remain green and healthy looking right to the end...that ain't necessarily so...

I've got 2 plants that will be done in a week or so right now...most of the fans have yellowed and dropped..they look like they are dying, because, well, they are. They are also forcing every last ounce of energy into the buds...

in my opinion, once the "stretch" is over, nitrogen isn't much needed anymore...yes, you may gain weight by keeping them healthy to the end..but potency..not so much.

In the truest sense, we are not growing a plant at all..we are growing the trichlomes...the plant material is simply the carrier of the meds...

Marty- what do you mean by soiless-straining?
I reuse about 90% of my soilless after a grow for the next one.
Run it through a large screen I have with about 10,000 1/4" holes in it.

If you flush well before cutting all you really need to do is pull the old roots out and it's good to go again.
At least in my experience. Hazeman turned me on to reusing it; and I came up with the screen on my own.

He said he gets about 75% back without screen; so not sure if it worth the effort but I do it.
After four or five grows I usually just toss half of it and add a new bag to the mix.
The screen has a tendency to remove the larger parts of the soilless mix; so over time it does change to a finer mix.

I started using the screen first time because I had had fungus gnats before I switched to soilless to get rid of them and I wanted to get rid of all the roots just in case.
Seems to work - haven't had those things since the switch.
I use Pro-Mix BX with the occasional bag of Pro-Mix HP.
HP is high porosity and is not too good for me alone; but I mix in to screened medium to add lost "stuff".

I tried that HP mix alone once and all the water ran out on the floor and after a few of those standing water deals I ended up with PM.
Ruined the better part of a very nice grow there.
So after cleaning up I had a half bag of it left and mixed it with a bag of BX to start over.
The rest is history.:bigjoint:

I do something similar. Pre mix soil, be it roots organic, or any other, can bring in bugs with it. If you start with pro mix..then add your worm castings, and other organic ferts..no bugs are in the mix. The bugs come for the "living" soil after it's had time to 'come alive" from composting and de comp...the individual components are bug free. Make your own soil mix and you generally eliminate bugs too.
