What do you do when someone tries to break in?

besides if you continue to defend yourself beyond the point in which it is necessary to defend yourself you quickly fall into the category of assault with a deadly weapon or even manslaughter/murder, now if you just shoot the person once, that is self defense, you stopped an invader then called the cops, if you knock the guy down then smack hime two three times in the head till his brains leak out, you are going to jail.

It is entirely situational. In the UK the probability that someone breaking into your house has a gun is just about non-existent so there is no need to arm yourself in such a manner. It's in the criminals best interest to have the upper hand so why excerbate the situation by giving him reason to carry a gun. They know we won't have guns so they don't bother either. Unless you live in Manchester then ya bets are off :p

move somewhere where growing is legal, otherwise your only defense is that the police had no right to search your house beyond the room that was broken into, because a break in does not give them right to investigate you and your activities, know your rights and what precedents have been set in your area.

If the cops are at my house and they don't have a warrant what is the issue? They either get ignored, or if they've broken in, then they get assaulted in an act of defense. As said, you have the right to have the cops over to look around or not if that shuld be your choice.
 
Well here in southern california some will purposely wait until you enter their house to blow your head off. If you have children in the house, then you could do even worse like beat the living hell out of them before calling the cops.

if they smell it that is good enough. I have had the cops in my house with my grow. I was shitting a fucking brick. But I wasn't heavy into flowering.

in the UK im pretty sure that any gun involved in any situation where a gun would be needed is much more likely to be on the side of the criminal party since they know that you dont have guns and therefore a gun will trump anything you are carrying,

if you shot someone with an obvious break-in a good lawyer would be able to throw out any subsequent charges based on the fact that that a break-in does not necessarily give the police the right for a search and seizure, if the cops have a search warrant it has to specifically state what the police are searching for, a dead body does not give the police the right to necessarily search the rest of your property, you dont have to submit to a search, and if you dont they have to then prove that a search was warranted hence the terminology warranted.

But the criminal also knows that he will be in jail for a very long time if caught with a gun. So they rarely bother as they know it is simply not needed in any shape or form. A knife or crowbar will suffice. This whole debate seems to be quickly veering off simply what would you do if someone was burgling your house. Most gun incidents in the UK are "drive by" (normally on pedal bikes :D) revenge killings in the gang areas of London or Manchester. Other than the guns i've fired myself or when out in phesant country, i have never heard a gunshot in my life.

And personally, if i killed someone who was burgling my house, i wouldn't really care too much about my 2 plants in the cupboard being found. The police are going to have a hard time in my situation proving that the burglar was either after my plants or that they had any relation to the situation at all. It would be an independent issue which would warrant well, case law i'd get a slap on the wrist for my plants.

yeah that right there would possibly negate any attempt the arresting officers made as for marijuana smell. you just go to court and prove that there is no way they smelled it because you have all the working equipment to prevent that smell and the air is ventilated through a different portion of the house whatever, that itself will provide some defense. but local jurisdictions and different states have different precedents set for how civil rights are respected etc...

exactly, however probably never being in a situation is no excuse for not preparing for that situation, also keep in mind a 120 lbs littl asian women wont find much protection in a club or a knife against 200+ lbs thug that wants her meds or her purse or just to get his end away/ jollies off/ a little of the ol in out in out. get my drift, its one thing to say that a healthy adult male doesnt necessarily need a gun, but what about a guy in a wheelchair, or someone thats just not very big or could be easily killed in a physical altercation. those are the people that need an equalizer.
 
im just saying most important is protecting yourself and your family, second is staying out of jail,

Id rather kill a man than be a victim.
