What happens when you cut back hard in flower?

I could not find exact answer to this and I never did it because it's so not recommended but I might be about to because I have a sativa I have been super cropping like crazy but it is not doing the trick. It is covering another pot I need to grow a smaller plant in and I cannot move the pot in my setup. The sativa is probably in week 2 of flower and will go 18 weeks. I'm talking about cutting a few branches off, not just pruning fan leaves. Can I still get decent bud off it in this case? Thanks

Sure you can. You will just have less than you would have before pruning branches. If indoors.. clean up the bottom 1/2 of the plant. If outdoors.. leave your branches, even lowers.. just remove small immature bud sites that are under your tops. (On the inside of the plant)

Thanks, its indoors and way to short a room. Wish I had a picture but won't for a while if at all. I'll have to cut some of the top branches out too to open things up. I'm really just trying to find out what this plant is like and want a few quality buds to sample from it but don't care if there is low quantity.

Care to try super cropping? Heard of it before? If not I’ll gladly explain if you think it’ll help. Even without pictures.. if you’re trying to correct the height of your plant in a jam. (Whether it be a space issue or what have you) Super cropping is a popular method of lowering the height of plants. It only involves pinching the main stem to soften it up so it can be leaned over. This exposes more budsites to the light. IMG_6601.jpegIMG_6604.jpeg

It's actually part of the whole maintenance in flower. I will often cut off lower branches that didn't reach the canopy and would otherwise be blocked by bulking flower around it. I've done this as late as week 4 after stretch, to determine which branches reach the canopy and which ones don't.

That's folding and it's mostly done commercially and in big rooms, for basically untreated or minimally cared plants.
Then there are factors like stretching and length of internodes and so forth.

Super cropping is way more complicated matter to begin with and so I won't here.

Sorry about the mess in my comment previously, deleted it

Just realized OP did mention heavy super cropping done already. We all too high right now?

You can cut off as much as you like.
The flowers left will develope.
The other things you could do is ditch the other plants and just commit to the 18 week monster.
Or take cuttings of it while it’s flowering as that will probably still work since it goes another 16 weeks as you say.

Thank you much. I started cutting some off. I'm gonna cut and bend that big ole beetch so I can fit a indica fem inside her.
