what is the best car you have ever owned.

Yeah very slow, but 104000 when i got it, I couldn't pass it up. I thought about a swap for a while, but i'd rather find a TSI/GST and rebuild the motor myself. I love the 1g though, plus as of next year, no more emissions and its eligible for historical plates

ps, did have a Chevy Malibu Coupe in the early 80's

and later paid to have it stolen from me,

only to steal it back about 4 weeks later,

I needed to put the motor in a boat .....lol

I have to admit, driverless cars would be nice for long road trips or driving to work, but I need to at least have the option of manual control. Plus with all the computers and sensors, you pretty much lose any real feel for the road. I prefer anything old school though. No car payment and way easier and cheaper to fix. Although it will be nice to drive a brand new "Ford Focus or Similar" and beat the hell out of it on my vacation coming up

We were talking about this driverless last night, so I drink a bottle of moonshine toke up,

push the button to driver-less home, but you driving make a mistake hit me...

unfortunately my lawyer advises me to sue..? to recover my costs

but if I hit you, I'm not driving the car is and maybe on Googles map thing ...who gets sued here...?

I'm not driving...? the point is if everyone is driverless then AI runs the whole show

independent thought or skill not needed..?

I had it over 160, ran down a 911 Turbo. No passing on the right there, he wouldn't move, so had to let off several times after 130 (his turbo must have "run out of steam". After about 150, I was more focused on the road, so didn't see exactly how fast I was going when I let off (wife was freaking out). It has the "AMG Development Pack" which ups HP/TQ, forged internals, upgraded brakes, lightweight crankshaft, etc. It's a '12, ordered it right after discovering it's release. It has the naturally aspirated 6.3 (6.2+) M156, new C63 has the TT 4.0 M177.

I'm guessing your E is the S (AWD).

I've had two more kids since getting it, time to get something with 2 more doors and another seatbelt (have a "family hauler", but not "fun" enough). I hear this next gen E will include an E63 coupe, possibly even a Black Series. Loosely planning another ED. I highly recommend it. Germany is far more beautiful than I had anticipated, the Germans were far more welcoming, and driving the car as intended is icing on the cake (it's "cheaper" that way also).

the 2 neatest cars i had were back when i was young and dumb and gas was cheap in the 70's. a late 60's jeep pickup with a Cadillac ambulance engine ((500(?) with 2-4 bbl)) shoehorned in it. the other sleeper was a 4 dr Tempest with a 389 w/ tri-power. i surprised a lot of guys at the light :) (also learned how to replace u-joints, clutches and synch rings)

Last summer I helped a dude out after he clipped a pole in his. The pole was still up but only hanging on by the wires, kind of a predicament.

We drove up a couple of minutes after it happened, it was obvious that speed was a factor. His tracks showed that the front tires were turned tight but it kept going straight toward the ditch / pole. He was trying to avoid a car turning left and it was at a curve in the road, the angles just didn't work out.

He was outside of the car, the car was a bit of a mess. The force pushed him through the door, I knew he had some broken bones, so I helped him till the pros got there (rural area). His dumbass friend made a joke about getting him a rum and coke, and I almost tore a strip out of him.

Anyway, I'm sure dude's ok now, but the car not so much.

If the driverless car hits me, I say we both sue tesla/google/whomever...I mean technically they would be at fault.

another point i heard somewhere was lets just say that a lady is pushing a stroller across the street, at the same time a truck pulls out, how does the car judge which option would be least likely to cause the most injury?

most drivers would avoid the mother and baby even if it meant crashing into a truck because odds are you and the truck driver would be ok, but how does a computer know that?

What the teslas do is amazing, but they are not foolproof and it is basically more of an advanced cruise control feature than an autopilot. Id like to see that guy try to take a nap behind the wheel on I70 through the rocky mountains or somewhere in NC with no lines or even a dirt road. I think actual Demolition Man style driverless cars are a little farther off. Especially when the google car just caused a wreck recently.
 
take a taxi if you want self driving. i got a luxury car that hits low 11's in the 1/4 cause i like to drive...feels so light and nimble despite all things

i couldnt imagine getting a car like this and taking a nap


shit i want that alpha performance package
