What is the single greatest military weapon ever created?

The internet, satellites/GPS, computers, are all good answers. But still, what could a computer or internet connection create that would eliminate the threat an F22 could create? Unless you could hack into the jets computers (which, you probably could if you were good enough), I don't see any other outcome.

GPS - modern wars couldn't be waged without it, so it is indeed a powerful tool. Especially if they have (which I'm sure they do) live feeds instead of static ones like Google Earth provides.

Excluding the Atomic or Hydrogen bombs

Also excluding 'gunpowder'

Besides those, what is the single greatest military weapon ever created and why?

Abrams, F22, M16, AK47, what, and why?

Without gunpowder would there not be any bullets,Hence there would be no guns?

Yup but I'm out of frog. cn
Well, atlatl don't need no stinkin' frog poison. I am very into it. I possess a wide collection of re-produced and also self made darts and sticks. I have everything from light bird baskets to heavy hog stickers.

Very into paleo in general, ancient weapons specifically. On another forum I'm helping some paleontologists with physics and Method....very lacking in their space. They have been on some Discovery channel stuff.

We have a very tough, range course, up and down the steep hills, nearby. All the bow shots possible, I'd say. I've yet to hit anything. But, I don't complain. And I don't lose arrows, I find them. I can see my dart but, there is often a burrowed arrow in the weeds on the same line.

My favorite for frogs is a sling stick. You can make it out of most anything. And then just use a jean back pocket for the sling web. It's like a sling and a slingshot in one. Two handed over head, big rock or a shotgun full. Tie on the string. Then take the bark off for about an inch and shave it smooth, no lumps. The loop on the string slips off the stick, rocks go out...dinner?

by using a computer once could learn of an f22 attack, and possibly implant covert agents to stem off the attack before its launched. intelligence networks dawg.

You do realize that even with the f22s "super-cruise" the jet flys > Mach 1...
How do you plan to find out about a f22 about to strike, and then react in the time? You think they are going to advertise it days before?

And no, you can't hack into a f22 LOL, it's not connected to the "internet" as we know it. It's connected to a secure and private intranet. You honestly think our govt would allow security leaks with a plane that cost >150mill each?

At best, you might be lucky enough to get an EMP off, but that would require you have a HUGE EMP.

H.A.R.P. it's a billion watt antenna field used to heat the ionosphere and create clouds! Only used domestically since tesla created it and the govt stole it. Or a experimental sound weapon used in Iraq. It's unknown and a rumor so far but, it is supposed to focus sound to the point that it will liquefy a human? Fuckin nuts! Check out coast to coast am radio a few weeks ago!

There are always these, wtf, I didn't listen very closely, nut case dramas that make it Coast to Coast.

It is the stuff of horror for the GM Fools, Earth First Gia worshipers and the believers in the Mosanto-Alien Accords.

OMG weapons created by the Miltary....that's not new. And directed, micowave, jelly gut death is not new. It's deployed, in theater, right now. Area denial, babies. (HURTS don' it? get some! get some!) But, HAARP is the big gun.

And there is the nut case side, if you care to read it. I got the straight side printed here, from this site also.

http://www.haarp.net/

The military says the HAARP system could:

  • Give the military a tool to replace the electromagnetic pulse effect of atmospheric thermonuclear devices (still considered a viable option by the military through at least 1986)
  • Replace the huge Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) submarine communication system operating in Michigan and Wisconsin with a new and more compact technology
  • Be used to replace the over-the-horizon radar system that was once planned for the current location of HAARP, with a more flexible and accurate system
  • Provide a way to wipe out communications over an extremely large area, while keeping the military's own communications systems working
  • Provide a wide area earth-penetrating tomography which, if combined with the computing abilities of EMASS and Cray computers, would make it possible to verify many parts of nuclear nonproliferation and peace agreements
  • Be a tool for geophysical probing to find oil, gas and mineral deposits over a large area
  • Be used to detect incoming low-level planes and cruise missiles, making other technologies obsolete

Aren't the F22s grounded every other month for one issue or another? The F22 is the most over-priced project ever. I'd choose the original B2 stealth as a 'greatest' aircraft overall over the F22 any day.

I'd say the cannon is the most important. Maybe the M1 rifle or the original Gatling gun or M2 Browning .50 machine gun.

Air-craft carrier?

I will finally pick the P51D Mustang.

I kinda like the MLRS systems........Man size bottle rockets.....It is not the greatest weapon but I bet it is fun to shoot...

Probably we don't know about the greatest weapon. Not cleared, need to know, only. But, a couple of crates of these would come in handy, in so many situations. After it's placed, it's commanded to fire out a web of tripwires and listener lines, IR sensors, etc. That's why it's call a spider mine.

The mill I work at makes various rubber bushings for the F-22. A Lockheed rep gave us all posters that say "Without you, it wouldn't be possible"

yipee!

I will have to try a sling stick. You make it sound very Ronco Pocket Trebuchet. ;) cn

It's had some issues with the oxygen, 8 crashes, 2 fatalities. But it's capabilities blow the B2 out of the water completely. Plus the F22 is almost 5 times cheaper, $150 million v. $750 million.

In what way are you measuring greatness?

Cheaper, faster, more maneuverable, stealth

B2 can carry a bigger payload, and I think its range is farther, but you could put 5 B2's up against a single F22, and give them 5 targets each and 2 F15's as escorts, by the end, all 5 B2's would be down, along with 3 of the F15's because of the limited amount of payload before anyone saw the F22. With a jet like that, it simply isn't fair.
