Yes I have one it 16" x 8" x 2.5". Kick ass little light for the money. I will buy another. Want to use them eventually for side lighting with an HP's 600w above

That's the problem with buying stuff from China it is hit and miss and 99.9% of the time it is miss... HLG boards are made in the US so it's all good

Best advice coming from a guy with some shit leds and some cheap lights do not cheap out on your lights. They are the life of your plant. Shitty lights cost you more money in the long run.
what is cheap and what is expensive? IMHO lights that are cheaper than high quality are more likely to yield less of lower quality, and break more often. Both should be factored in before purchasing. The problem there is uneducated buyers make poor decisions regardless of what item/product they buy. Ignorance is who a slick advertisement copy writer targets to market their crappy wares
A way to evaluate the true cost would be if you were planning on selling some
ASSUMING THE MORE EXPENSIVE LIGHT YIELDS >10% MORE AND/OR HAS A STREET PRICE OF $20/G
If 1 gram of weed you like is $15 on the street, but you want to grow your own. Now, let's assume you are a seasoned grower and your yields are comparable from the get-go. Now, if that describes you, you're probably looking for a bigger light than the best $600 light produces
Lets say a $400 light is advertised to be as good as a $600, but the $600 light is recommended by growers who confirm it yields 2 oz that sells for $20/g+
Lets say the $400 light yields are similar (not likely!), but lack the quality (most likely), but you are able to sell it for $15/g: a $5/g difference between it and the $600 light
If your yield is 2 oz and you sell one @$15 X 28g= $420
if your product was better and you could sell it for $20 x 28 = $560
The $400 light product yields $160 LESS (almost the difference in lower cost light in just one oz), again assuming it yields 2 oz, which again, is not likely, and neither is quality likely to be comparable
So, how many grows or ozs sold at $20/g would it take to pay for the better light, with higher yields and superior quality?

Ok, so the shitty stuff I ordered from China hasn't even come yet. I think I will try to sell it online after it arrives. I have a friend who knows someone who makes their own LED lights and has done lots of research and knows what he's doing. My friend is buying some and I'm going to have a look at them and may consider buying one from him myself or just paying the extra to get something that is proven to do the job right! I'm still in veg and I have a lot of time to plan which light I should get for flower.

Have you looked at cutter.au?
They have fairly priced boards and if your on a budget they do cree J series strips pretty cheap. If it fits your space you can knock up a great light for very little.
Personally I wouldn't pay someone to build me a light, its so easy to do these days.
What sort of space are you lighting up and what sort of budget do you have?

greengoblin if you haven't done so already, go to growmau5's youtube channel and find his DIY LED playlist and watch that. If you learn better by reading go to ledgardener.com and check out his DIY Guides section. Probably should do both actually. I might go back and brush up on it myself..

I work in mm's but I think it converts to 2.6 by 2.6ft and 6ft high. (800mm by 800mm and 1800mm high) I just have one plant in there mainlined to 16 tops it has a lot of growing to do. I'm going to be making some more room in future but for now this is the space I'm working with.

So at 35w per square foot a 240w driver would be plenty.
1x meanwell hlg-240-48a/b £50
5-6x cutter J series strips at £8 each
same amount of aluminium U frame in 2.4ft lengths £10-£15 total
Some 18awg wire and a few wagos and you have a 240w light.
That's just one example and obviously prices may vary from what I pay over here.
