What light/lights for 4x4

I am wanting to start off my very first grow with LED lighting,as this works best for my setup.I also just recently bought a 4x4 tent by CoolGrows which i am super stoked about. What light setups do all of you guys have in bigger tents such as a 4x4? How many mature plants can you usually fit per harvest, thanks to anyone who comments!

There's more than enough threads in here for you to research, my friend.

Hey man , welcome

For flowering in a 4x4 your gonna want atleast 30w per sq ft of quality leds.

So ideally you would want 480w at the wall. You can get away with less if you want,

There's many great options for lights

Hlg qbs are the top dawg in town.
Timber grow lights if you want cobs
Amare has very good strip builds
Pacific light concepts had the photoboost
Atreum
Cutter
Cobkits.com
DIY option is best bang for buck, just gotta put in the work

As airwalker said, there's many many good threads in this section that would really help you in deciding what you want.

As for plants in that space, I vegged 4 plants for 45 days and then flowered in a 4x4 . It was getting pretty crowded in there by the end. So to answer your question, it depends on how long you want to veg.

Some growers are packing 4x4s with 40+ clones and running no veg sogs.

It all depends on what you want to do bud.

Hope this helped you a bit atleast

thanks you for the comment diggs! what type of light did you start off with? How long have you been growing? Currently germinating some Northern Lights 5 and have a sativa clone of Cinderella 99 already rolling, i plan on having 4 plants go through both veg and flower

I started off with a 600w vivosun mh/ hps

Then I bought 2 x 315 cmh

I just finished building some led strip fixtures , 480w each

Been growing for only a year come October.

Best of luck with everything. Fun times ahead :)

Could you go a little more in depth on your finished LED build? would love to here more as this is the type of lighting that i am wanting to run in my setup. I also plan on using ocean farm soil, a lot of people out there tend to lean on this product based on my research. Any other info you would like to share would rock my socks off dog, lol good talk diggs

Heres a link to the thread where i build the lights
https://www.rollitup.org/t/1440-watt-project-cutter-strips-time-to-build.990584/

They are LED strips from cutter electronics, 3000k spectrum. I have 2 built already, 1 more to go.
Each fixture is made up of 18 strips and is powered by a HLG-480H-48A drivers( 480watts each) They are 3` x 4` in size
Anything else you want to know, just ask. Im pretty easy to get along with lol

As for Fox farms ocean forrest( i assume your talking about) That stuff is wonderful lol. I grew my first couple crops in it, i loved it. Heres my biggest piece of advice when using FFOF...be patient with the nutrients, FFOF is known as being a HOT soil, with lots of nutrients in it already. My first plants werent fed any nutrients unil day 35 of veg. The soil carried them for that long.

I have since switched to COCO as a medium, a little more work and attention to detail but im loving it.

Keep it simple, FFOF allows a grower to keep things very simple, use a wet and dry cycle, meaning, soak your pots until you get approx 15-20% runoff and then let those same pots almost dry out before you water again. Cannabis loves wet and dry cycles. Helps with root developement and also helps the grower not overwater plants , which is real easy to do for newer growers.

Ask away, anything i can help you with, i will. No problem.

Have a good day.

Depenging of the size of my autoflowers from 4 to 6 15l airpots in 3,3x3,3 tent.. 360w cobs.

Anyone have any good personal data on the Mars Reflector 192 1000w led grow light? This is the light i am currently leaning towards the site says it has a flowering coverage of 4x4 which is the exact size of my tent

first thing your gonna learn in your search for lights, 99% of amazon lights are laced with false claims. Mars and viparaspectra and all the the other blurple sellers bloat their numbers. That light wont come close to flowering a 4x4. prob more like a 2x2 properly.

If you want real LED, its gonna cost good $ per watt. The companies i listed above all sell legit leds/cobs . Unless your buying from HLG on amazon, or going with a HPS/CMH light, id stay away from amazon all together.

If your on a tight budget, id consider going with a cheapo hps setup until you have the loot to buy real and proper leds/cobs

OR

you could always venture down the DIY rabbit hole and build yourself a kickass LED or cob light and save a bunch of cash compared to buying one

You could also check out the chinese knockoff thread, those dudes are growing some dank weed with knockoff QBs, getting them at a much cheaper price. Obv the risk is in the warranty

@CobKits put together a nice light for my bud @Renfro a while back, maybe he can put something together for you too

Oh it's not amazon doing it, it's the companies themselves

Just be wary, legit leds and cobs are gonna cost anywhere from $1-1.50/watt at the very least.

I'm willing to spend the most amount on the lighting. Probably wanting to stick within the 200-500 dollar range to start off
Youre under budgeted. 200 will maybe do you a 4x2 max. With that budget and it being your first grow id rec CMH lights, they are easier to grow and learn with. Leds can be hard cause you need to put a lot of resources into controlling the environment. They wont do a whole 4x4 though

Amare Shill
I recommend the Amare Bar-8. Just can't go wrong with the unit, results, cost., warranty & customer service.
Might be worth checking out HGL HydroGrow too. Ill lyk once I've finished flowering with them. They are the RGB/Burple (but not) QB'S which are called XBoards.
The HGL Elite 96's are nice too & you can add a far Red (ir) booster strip they have.
