Ever tried a moisture meter? I dont use one but from what ive heard theyre reliable. I dont go bigger than 5 gallon buckets and have no problem checking the soil for moisture by hand. Just feel down a couple inches, not deep enough to disturb the roots much, and if its totally dry im good to go. It took me a while to get to trust myself using this method but it works and its quick. No overwatered plants anymore. Another big contributor to overwatering is pots too large for the plant. I start in solo cups, move to 1 gallon, then 3, then 5, and make sure the roots have nearly filled, or filled the pot before transplanting.
