Doom, Iv not used the soils u have, so i cant compare but it beats the shit otta promix... the freedom to water when u want is nice... if you see she needs something u give it to her... reusable a few times, renawable... iv not found a downside yet, i hear some cal mag complaints, not been issue for me.
my understanding of Coco is its treated like hydroponics, nothing wrong with that, I would say I would have to get over the fear of watering so much. In soil its not how much you give its how often, Often being what leads to over watering and getting root rot and all other kinds of problems. I think that will be my biggest hurdle. I have a bro in Canada that I correspond with that runs hydro and his plants are always bigger than mine. So there is a benefit for sure. :weed:

Ever tried a moisture meter? I dont use one but from what ive heard theyre reliable. I dont go bigger than 5 gallon buckets and have no problem checking the soil for moisture by hand. Just feel down a couple inches, not deep enough to disturb the roots much, and if its totally dry im good to go. It took me a while to get to trust myself using this method but it works and its quick. No overwatered plants anymore. Another big contributor to overwatering is pots too large for the plant. I start in solo cups, move to 1 gallon, then 3, then 5, and make sure the roots have nearly filled, or filled the pot before transplanting.

Good advice, I have been growing in soil for years, I have my system down. I was really speaking about if I changed to Coco, it would be odd for me to need to water so often, I would feel like i was over watering. I use to transplant the same way as you describe, For years now I just go right into the pot Im going to finish with, it really comes down to common sense to me on how much you water, for instance if i'm in my 7 gallon, Ill only water as if it was in a solo cup, as the plant gets larger I move the water out.

Quick question. My budget seems to be kinda thight at the moment. I already have a ph meter for my soil. Do I then also need a ph meter for the water that I put in my soil?

If theres a hydro store near you you could save a little and buy the drops for now, or keep an eye on your soil ph and try your water. If it doesnt cause your plants issues i wouldnt worry too much. Soil ph is the important thing. Fuck paying shipping for the drops lol probably more than they cost

And this is your thread man, ask all you like.

Blue lab makes great pH meters, I would not grow again with out one. If you buy Fox farm or Black Gold most of your higher end Soiis are ph'ed already. You need a ph pen my friend especially if your going to use liquid nutrients

Drops work and are cheap and you dont have to calibrate

If your using soil theyll get close enough for soil to buffer the rest. Ive used both. Now use ph meter. But i always keep 7.0 ph buffer around and calibrate every other water

I've been having very good results using fox farms ocean forest with about 15-20% extra perlite and aroumd 10% extra worm castings. I also make sure I use azos and mykos if I'm transplanting. Shit is amazing. Literally saw zero transplant shock. Usually see roots reach bottom of new pot within a week or so

Im in coco now too, but if i went soil route ever again, FoxFarm Ocean Forest, and Kindsoil.

You fill your final pot 1/4 way on the bottom, then backfill with FFoF. Water only with 6.5PH water, or RO that usually is already 6.5.

Its so freakin mistake free.

Does having a carbon filter of 280m3/hr and an inline fan of 184m3/hr make any sense?
A little bit yes. Your carbon filter would last longer and youd have less resistance on your fan. It would be able to run more efficiently. Ive heard of ppl oversizing them for that reason. Still i use one with slightly lower cfm capacity than my fan. I cant speak as to how much better it would be but even if you size your fan to a filter with the same cfm your gonna lose some of the flow to the resistance from the filter. So generally if you have the space larger is better.

Thanks, I know it might seem a completely random question but I'm doing my first grow and with that my first grow space.
