And of course confusing the situation are products called "Sweet" and "Bud Candy" which do in fact have sugars in them. But, sweet at least is mostly a Mag-Sulphur supplement, and Bud Candy is a similar mix (I think, I don't use it).
And just to confuse you even more, Sweet comes in raw, lemon, and berry variants, none of which actually impart any flavor to the bud.
Now there are reasons you may need to supplement mag without calcium, and sulphur is a ripening agent. So even with a good feed program you can still need additional mag. I know, I know, there are organic analogs. But for the bottle feeders, it's still an option.
