I grew up in the Sacramento valley, just not redneck'y part.

It would depend on your definition of Christian. If it is defined by membership in an organized Christian church, I would agree. If it is defined by simply trying to live your life according to the teachings of Christ, a most righteous man who may or may not have been the son of God, you could call yourself an agnostic Christian.

Religion is as believable as any wrestle mania event.
Fake, but not useless. Same as the old superhero comics/cartoons where the good guy catches the bad guy and is about to smash his face in, but says, "you're not worth it". It teaches kids that any gratification you may receive from dishing out a punishment, isn't worth becoming just like them to do it. Cheesy, sure, but that's good propaganda, imo. If a person were looking for a moral framework without the religion, you could still use the bible in the same manner as they do, just keep a foot on the ground and discard the nonsense.

None of it makes any sense to me. A lot of Judeo-Christian values make sense, such as do unto others and don't bear false witness, etc. Those make sense because it provides a framework around which people can live together, grow food, raise kids and so forth. But the supernatural creator is where I drop out.

Head down i55 for a few hours...its a whole different state. I guess I go with Bloomington as being the cutoff, as i once met a dude who said they were from the Chicago suburbs and I asked where, that was what they said. Seemed quite the stretch.

Yeah, I run 55 and 57 quite often, I prefer 57 the most though. Down in Effingham there is a Petro truckstop with the best breakfasts, maybe my favorite place in the world lol.
You're not kidding about getting south of Chicago and it's like a totally different state. Shit, just 30 minutes south off of 80 and it's rural.
I love Illinois though, it's a great state
