]I hate to keep sounding like a broken record but the fact that you want to lean toward Dem's as a better choice tell's me that you're not getting it.[/B] If you keep leaning toward one party or the other that's what they want. The thing to remember is that trusting in anyone in power or on there way that can and will be bought is what we have done for the last 50 years or more. If you personally cannot be bought then that's where I would start. To keep on saying "Well most dems are better because..." is doing exactly what they want. Who cares if Dems are all for weed and legalize it completely 100% but then say you have to have health care and you cannot own guns? A free country should be exactly that..FREE

We will never be free unless we unify and stop bickering over things like gay marriage, health care, gun ownership, and everything else that keeps us at ends. If everyone was unified against the government, banks, pharms, and everyone else who takes from us and can stop them where they are now then they would realize that they can have the world they want, free to do what they want as long as it doesn't harm someone else. What to do exactly when we get there I'm not sure but taking sides will never work. The war on drugs will never work, I wish we could all see the two as the same.

"I tend to agree more with the POSITIONS that Democrats take on issues, but it's usually just lip service."

What part of that are you confused by? Whether it be gay marriage, abortion, health care, etc. I'm fairly liberal, and I tend to agree with the democrats position on those issues ...... then went on to say that it's usually just lip service coming from them.

You're picking nits.

1 democrats don't want to take away guns in fact most are owners. Regulations ! = baning. Never understood that nonsense.

2 it's a two party system. Thats the rules and how it works in a winner take all system.

3 I don't base my vote on mj stance. Yes its important to me but I care about what the individual can do in the office.

4 this is stuff I not only study but am a part of. I could be black listed or lose my job based on my private cannabis usage. I've been a criminal for years but it's my life and my quality of life which is foremost important to me as it is a universal.

I truly believe power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. I believe the drive for big government and the power associated are calling cards of the left. Their biggest supporters are power "service" groups such as lawyers, unions, government, education and media. You don't have to look far to see the effect of such on our society as Detroit has went from one of the wealthiest and most power cities in the world to bankrupt and hopeless in the US in just a matter of decades. Whom is at fault here: the politicians, the voting public or both? What could have been done to save Detroit and it's people in retrospect?

That said, today's Republican party is no better having to compete in this bullshit government market which is now center left. It's a far cry from the conservative/libertarian thinkers that put this county on the map. Hell every fool in politics today would consider our forefathers anarchists in any modern political arena :(

If you doesn't believe that the Republicans don't believe in big government like the Democrats, look at the spending of 8 years under Bush ll, I believe the deficits 'ballooned' as much as under if not more than a Democrat. You have to take away interest on the debt from when the person take's office. They (parties) both will spend the money and run up the bill, the bottom line is where the money is going to be spent. Welfare for the masses? Welfare for the military-industrial complex? Bread for the people or armies for the world?

"Government's only role is to help individuals defend themselves from force and fraud". --------- We are so far from that at the moment it is scary.

I think we as a country are very ready for a reversion. I hope both the right and the left become so far from center it will be the only logical solution.

No doubt about it brother, Republicans acting like Democrats is part of the problem facing our country today. It did not help the Bush II era that Congress and the Senate were in Democratic control either. Progressive propaganda is what sells and both D & R have sold it for far too long now. These clowns need to be held accountable for situations like Detroit, rather than simply handing over the problem to future generations along with over 18 trillion in debit.

See, who can tell the difference :bigjoint:

I may have been thinking of an earlier era of politicians whom deregulated banks to once again be casinos at the same time they deregulated home loans to setup the 2008 crash :eyesmoke: Dodd, Frank and Clinton I do believe. It's more about holding any of these clowns, R and D, accountable for their power brokering within these political games.

"At this point" is a key statement. He said ths same thing about gay marriage only a few years ago.
The guy is, I think, working things around to come to an accommodation. Remember that there are a lot of powerful enemies who have been entrenched and well funded for decades who need to be worked around or put down. It will take just a little more public demand to bring the issues to a reasonable conclusion.
