You fail to understand that your tastes and the tastes of someone like me differ greatly and what you subjectively consider to be potent is not what would be potent to me. I have always loved the ceiling-less mind warping rocket-sled ride of a pure sativa or a cross that is almost all sativa. I hate something that would put me on my; "ass for hours and hours." That's not getting high, that is getting stoned .. and there is a difference.
Just out of curiosity when was it that you; "smoked many of the yesteryear strains?" 1960-what? 1970-what?
As for the old strains of the 60's and the 70's being as you stated it; "
there not all that." You seemed to assume that just because the video showed frosty buds that the frost had to be overflowing with THC. High resin production is not, and has never been, a guarantee of high levels of THC. Well what do you think put the octane in weak-ass indicas that created the crosses you love so much? I have done it before so I will not do it again, but I looked through the strain lineage for all the Cup winning indicas, including ones called a Kush, and I posted the strain lineage for most of them and most of them have the very strains you say; "
there not all that" in them. What you fail to understand is that sativas are potent, indicas produce more resin but are lower in potency and give a body stone, a couch-lock stone, crosses were made to add the potency of the sativas to the weaker indicas and had that not been done many of the popular indica strains, including a good number that are called a Kush, would be nothing, people like you would not waste your time or money on them and you would not brag about them.
Check out the strain lineage of this Kush:
Reserva Privada - Headband
Strain: Headband
Breeder: Reserva Privada
Location: indoor,
outdoor
Type: mostly indica
Flowering: ~63 days
Only female seeds.
Aka: Sour Kush
Cupwinner!
Headband Kush has a great yield, and the high is completely medical and not too over-powering. Finding a keeper mother is easy in a pack of 6 and this plant clones easily as well, rooting in 8-10 days. She grows fast in vegetive stage and spreads out wide to produce many tops and an even canopy. Producing heavy resin early and a great aroma, our Headband has bag and head appeal. She doesn’t grow as tall as Sour Diesel or as stretchy as the OG Kush and is not so picky with the nutrients. She has a fuely-soury taste and smell with a long lasting high. She is a good all day smoke that won’t knock you down like some of the heavy indicas and is a good strain for anxiety. This original cross is not the 707 or any other clone only “Headband,” this cross was made by reversing the OG Kush to pollinate the Sour Diesel.
Type: Mostly indica
Genetics: Sour Diesel x OG Kush
Strain Lineage / Genealogy / Family Tree
Look at all the different sativa genetics in the strain. If those old school sativa genetics were removed from the strain the breeders would not have even bothered to enter it into the HTCC because they would know it wouldn't stand a chance of winning Miss Congeniality let along a 1st, 2nd. or 3rd place Cup.

Remove the Lemon Thai and it would be nothing.
I always have to laugh when people like you claim true old school strains of the past to be nothing, or almost nothing, even though they are in fact what put the octane in the strains people like you like.
You mentioned the crippling affects of some strains you like after only 2 or 3 hits. Well I have smoked pure sativas that would have you crying for your mama after 2 or 3 hits.
