Before they went bust envirolight made easily the best cfls, i tried a lot of the other brands but envirolight grew the biggest buds, maxibright sucked a lot. I gave up on cfls after envirolite left the market, plug n grow used the same bulbs but even they changed. 250w envirolite cfl was by far the only decent cfl ive seen or used, 500w was not far of a 400w hps.

Yeah.....I suppose it really boils down to environment as a 'Whole' and genetics. Environment does involve all sorts of variables............in fact everything influencing your grow, 'except for' genetics. I wanna try your genetics, pmsl.......get your euro side sorted soonAnd I would suggest that a balance of factors is what makes up the environment. I could write a whole dissertation on this subject,,,, wait I already have

Get the environment or don't even start. Blacks law basically has you tweaking each link in the chain till you get about 3 or so runs in. Then there's the 10000 pages of reading you get to do to sort out the wheat from the chaff.. for me it was everything heath Robinson said or did. So many ways... use all the bulb brother go vertical or go home...

Not sure about you guys but the environment can change the way your plants eat/grow/flower ect so i would think one can't get shit right without first getting the environment right. Then you can fine-tune it per pheno after that if you really want to get serious.

Good point! I have seen some led's that produce sun spectrum. I heard of them doing some r&d so it will be interesting to see what they come up with.

Where did you get this cut from? Man Ive been wanting to try kali myst outdoors for a while now. @rikdabrick got a pheno that drips resin outdoors! Literally thc tear drops! Its insane

That was grown from a (breeders pack) fem seed. Got an excellent deal from MWS a while back. Kinda wished I had put her in a 15 gal. I did get one cut from her.
Folks said shes easy to clone I got just one out of 7 or 8.

I dont know why, one might assume all the cheaper less quality versions with shorter tube length won out with all the cheaper growers, and yer all my early grows were done with them till i switched to a 400w and althought the 400w was much better i felt like about another 125watt might push it upto equal. I did do this but heat was starting to get too much and thus i realised a hps was the way to go. Dumb ass design of cfls burns their ballast out quicker so their far from good their either. Anything underless than the 200w bulb seemed pointless for flowering also.
Envirolite growers noticed the difference and the closest to it was the maxibrite which they might still do. Looked poor quality even though they all seem to be made in a vast chinese factory. None were as exspensive or had the tube length and spectrum of the envirolite. It was thanks to envirolite groweres here on Riu that i found a british small aaa company call plug and grow that did their own re branded envirolites but alas they seemed to dry up after a while.
So after trying all the rest it was clear nothing would match and i got my first maxibrite 400w hps.
I hold a special place in my heart for envirolite, good money great plants.

That looks like an older thread but it says 2016.
I agree all cfls are shit, low energy bad spectrum bad if not dangerous design. The exception for me was the envirolite and it was almost twice the price of the others. You could clearly see the quality.

i pretty much agree that you have to balance things out, if you don't feed them right, they wont grow right, if you don't give them enough light, they won't grow right, if its too dry, or too wet, they won't grow right, if you don't give them enough water they won't grow right, if you give them too much water........
you have to balance it all out. its hard to get everything right, so you just have to try to get it as close as you can with what you have to work with.
makes it sound complicated? just remember, we're all growing a weed thats been around for hundreds of thousands of years, let it alone most of the time and it'll grow itself.
