Awww man...that is just not true...I have low humidity, and a fan that literally makes all the plants grow off in the one direction...it directly hits them...and it was on one plant and as soon as I saw it I took the plant down, and I thought it was all good, then it was time to take down a different plant, and it had no mold... so then a week later while inspecting I found more mold in a scarred spot on the main stalk of one plant...so I chopped that one too...none in the buds, but mold on the stalk...luckily only like 2 plants had to come down early..and not terribly early...just a little early, which is alright i guess...anyway, you think it is gone but it isn't...not with that plant, and not with any other plant in the tent that may have been over fed, or over watered, or underfed, or underwatered...if you have a plant that isn't totally totally totally healthy for one reason or another it will just get all moldy the longer you leave it...
Think he is only a week out from harvest, the air should keep it from spreading no????

Ya.... It's not mold. This is known as powdery mildew..Its preety common fungus in a grow room. and it can really take off fast.
It gets a foot hold and starts spreding spores around your growing area. kinda like bud mold, (botrytis).
The mildew however wont turn ash color at the end of it's cycle. It stays fluffy and white apearing as it grows into your bud. If it starts on your leaves it can be wiped off with a damp towel, and is easier to deal with than bud mold( botrytis ) but will spread faster.
To prevent this from happening try to get your humidity down this will slow it down, and remove the infected area's from the grow space to prevent spores from spreading around the room. (very important).

that's powdery mildew, just like i am marie of romania.

it's botrytis, bud rot, mold. anyone who's ever gone through an outdoor harvest knows it, too.

Yeah bud rot and powdery mildew are 2 totally different things...totally totally different....

I didn't really think with good air movement, temps below 80 and humidity never above 44-45% that this would happen... Guess we'll see what happens...

I guess you can leave it there and see if it flushes out kinda greyish looking, (the fungus) or if it manafests itself as a cottony stuff that cruises through your bud.
I've been Involved with a lot of outdoor grows And I've seen several varieties of powdery mildew, I thinkk we are looking at powdery mildew here and not mold. Mildew grow and looks like a cotton ball In a bud and stays white. does not go from white to gray to black or brown like mold does as it finishes its life cycle.

I played it safe guys... I cut the affected bud off, and I'm glad I did after going through it... It was the top bud, the biggest one on the plant, so obviously the most dense... After I chopped it off and started to trim it up and when I chopped it right at the affected part all the bud was brown mush... I cut it about 2 inches below the affected area... effectively the entire top... and I was able to save about 50% of the bud... anything within an inch of an area that was obviously affected was thrown away... Not taking any risk smoking it if it was near mold... and I'm not risking the rest of my buds getting infected... All other buds are half the size of that main bud... I'm hoping that was all I have to worry about... I'll keep checking but I guess I'll get an early smoke of my crop in about 2 weeks when I'm chopping the rest of her down... Just wish it wasn't the damn TOP bud... oh well, at least I still have a plant, so far...

it sucks to lose a top cola, but it sucks even more to lose all your hard work.

just think of it as mother nature's tax, that's what i tell myself when i have to throw away outdoor bud that has gone to mold :)

Exactly... It could be worse... I'm only 2 weeks away, it's my first grow, I'm only using CFL's and I have about 8 other buds about half the size of the main bud so I'm not crying over here... Sucks... but hey, I'm still happy with it being my first grow... and hey, gotta learn somehow.

The plant now with no top... =(

Guess I can take the 3 CFL's I had for that bud and put them on some others lol.

agreed spidermite infested spidermite webs
yes, the spidermites just infested the bud and left no evidence of their existence on the leaves.

that's why the OP said the area was brown and mushy, because of mites.

do some of you guys even grow, or is this a new wave of weed barons?

wow, that is the worst diagnosis i have ever witnessed. are you sure you grow?

it's mold, buddy, cut it out quick, maybe harvest early unless you want to see your crop vanish.
to answer your question...no he doesn't. he owns a hydro store and claims to know "real" growers. lmao.
