We don't trim our popcorn ether. That goes straight to oil.
Soo about 100 gallons then? They sure are pretty!1/2 yard or surf and turf compost per plant. Raised beds are dug into the ground so the roots can go further.
2+ pounds per plant. Our largest being 3+
Those are from last year. We started our seeds 3 weeks earlier this year and I plan to feed the whole way through. Last year we only fed after they flipped.
Now that's a dandywish I would have got an end pic of her trunk....but this was in the second week of julyView attachment 3693906

I can't even explain how beneficial greenhouses are outdoors.... Explosive growth, no worries about wind and rain, makes it way harder for pests to get through, it's amazing!

there could be a tourist in the barrelI picked up a half oak whiskey barrel.
Plan to drill holes for drainage and maybe put a fabric-y liner in before I fill it with perlite and FFOF. Plan on putting a few flowers in there with it.
Anything weird I should know about growing in a barrel?
I checked for monkeys and crackers in the barrel but not tourists...there could be a tourist in the barrel
No, not near enough light. That patch is in 50' pines so the quicker they get above the surrounding brush, the better. Until I can grow in the garden, none of them will get enough light. I'm trying to offset the lower yields by having 60 odd plants in the ground. Maybe I can take three of these leggy ones and weave them together at harvest timeIs she getting enough light larry? She is a bit stretchy. Beautiful though

I did get back to the BP patch to water and top again. I took 8 tops this time, so it will have 16 next time. I would like to get it up to 64 main tops if I can. That will depend on the rain mostly. We have dried up in a hurry here.

I just read an artical I think in high times and it said never to mulch with wood chips because they soak up nutes out of the soil like a sponge. I would google it......Its as hot now as it has been all flippin year. ..my first round with smart pots and they sure dry qyick....I covered them up with logs to help keep cool....I was gonna do something greasemonkeymann told me to do and I'm kicking myself in the ass for not doing it not especially since I went and gathered what I needed...I was gonna soak old ass wood chips in a rabbit poo tea and add it to my mix...helps a lot of ways but def keeps moisture in a lil better....I used a lot of perlite....less than what they called for cause I though it was too much myself....and that doesn't help keep shit dry on hot ass days....but I'm wondering if I use the wood chips I went and gathered for a mulch and just move em when I top dress if it would be ok...anyone every experiment with this kinda thing....they hold water great
