you got a welding mask fdd2blk?
yes i do. never thought of that.

gonna have to go to a full shade 13.

i gotta go get a new battery. http://images.google.com/imgres?img...ler+welding+helmets&gbv=2&hl=en&safe=off&sa=G

i can't see that as i don't have java installed nor do i intend on installing it.
you just stated "You mentioned daylight... which means the sun, and it's several times brighter. Kind of like the difference between a 99 MPH fastball and a 100 MPH fastball."
if light were additive then how is that the case, what your saying in this sentence is that its only as bright as its brightest source, a weaker source will not make it any brighter.
if that is the case how can 2 cfl bulbs of 1000 lumens each or whatever make the intensity twice as much, surely if a torch is not bright enough to add to the day light outside then light can not be additive in the
manner in which you are describing
It does add, but as I said, it doesn't compare to the sun. You're adding a penny to a dollar(or whatever, you still do not have enough for a Bic). Your perception of it doesn't register the change. It's not multiplicative unless both sources are equal in lumens, and equal in distance to a leaf.
If you take two lights and put them near each other, you'll notice they create shadows from one another. Then compare that shadow color to the brightness around it(that's receiving light from both sources). You'll see the difference.
Again, do you even use a reflector? Your line of reasoning would render them absolutely useless in this alternate world you apparently live in.
And flashlights.... Those obviously also do not exist in this fantasy land. You can also not cook ants with a magnifying glass. Seriously? This is where you're taking this with your line of thought.
Which is why I typically just stop responding when people get this 'out of touch with reality'.
ego's ego's ego's
everyone has to try and prove outright why their thoughts are the be all and end all
i never stated anything i merely questioned based on what you had written,
"

your obviously taking this as some sort of attack on your knowledge, why can't people debate and discuss anything without getting trying to beat people down.
there is clearly a massive difference between cfl and hid, i know this first hand from experience
you can show me as many charts as you like and whatever proof, but the proof is in the pudding not in the instructions on how to make it
read back over this thread and i haven't bashed cfl's, but they are not now and nor have they ever been equal to hid lighting.
I agree you can get some satisfactory homegrown results out of a cfl that guys like you are clearly more than happy with.
i'm not saying they are rubbish, i'm just saying they are not on the same level as a hid lamp no matter how many you use and how many total lumens you achieve you will never get the fat dense buds with cfl that hid provides
I thought your concern was that light is not additive...?
You mentioned daylight... which means the sun, and it's several times brighter. Kind of like the difference between a 99 MPH fastball and a 100 MPH fastball.
You made an analogy twords the greatest sport in the world. I officially like you! Sorry its a off topic post lol...
nice contribution there vaporbros, i'm so happy that was your 800th post, at least you made it count for something

Light is to some extent additive, but it doesn't seem to work in the practical application of CFL's. The intensity still diminishes far too quickly outside of the optimal distance.
If it were "truely" additive, this wouldn't be the case. The light would become "brighter" and therefore the degredation would be similar to an HID.
Maybe the answer lies in the right kind of reflector that can house multiple CFL's in a certain type of pattern. I don't really know, but I know that what we've got now doesn't work and doesn't appeart to be "additive" in the sense of growing marijuana with them.
yeah since we all judge other people by the # of posts they have...... Mr. 71
i added just two 23w CFLs to my flower cab and i can notice a difference. The whole cab lights up brigher and i can see more light hitting the plants. Im also running a 150w HPS![]()
