Why do we never learn from history?

We all the know the saying, "if we don't learn from our history, we are doomed to repeat it".

If we know so much from our past, why do we keep making the same mistakes? Is it because each new generation is doomed to repeat them anyways? Is there some crazy conspiracy stuff going on and we will always face the same problems over and over?

What do you guys think?

Because they keep repackaging us the same shit in different packaging - patriotism, sense of anger, sense of wanting to help the helpless, whatever the flavor of the month is.

Yes... Because the younger you are, the more you think you know.

Yes... Until the world takes a step back and realizes most of the problems stem from some shitty little country in the middle east, the masses will continually be fooled into doing their bidding... But, of course, once you realize it, you will be called anti-semitic.

Not exactly sure why your post made me think of this quote....kinda applicable.

"Why of course the people don't want war. Why should some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally the common people don't want war neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders.

That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country." - Hermann Goering, the Nuremberg Diary.

Its because people cant remember (or choose not to remember) what happened 5 years ago let alone the past few hundred years of history.

Starts early.......

but the schools are underfunded. more money for computers and after school social programs will improve educational standards.

when you have dumped TRILLIONS down the drain and gotten shit results for 50 years, maybe it's time to look for a different plan.

but nahhhh... lets all think of the children.

his video caused me physical pain, but it does explain a lot about how so many people on this very forum could have gotten so far in their lives without learning the basic facts of history and science.

the fools in the image you provided were also unable to grasp the importance of history.

do you think the hippies in the 60's invented opposition to war? they did the exact same actions, made the same speeches, ran the same dodges, and made the same pointless marches as EVERY generation of dolts who think wars are somehow prevented by displaying national reluctance to fight.

hitler gained the chutzspah to invade poland through the peaceniks antics in france and england.

napolean marched across europe because the powers who COULD fight him made it clear they had no intention of fighting.

your premise is that the fools marching in your provided photo are somehow wise or clever in thier refusal to accept the draft, but isnt it funny... free nations allow such antics, but the nations which intend to force us into their mold of marxist authoritarianism dont put up with that shit, and yet most of the hippies yippies and peaceniks of the 60's were in fact marxists, just as most of the occupy twits are today. fortunately the occupy twits are a much smaller minority than the hippies of the 60's.

embracing marxist ideals, and refusing to fight against marxist aggressors in foreign lands is just excercising free speech... but if the marxists take over these self-same "Fellow Travelers" woud be subject to compulsory service, and if they tried to organize this same march, they would have been machinegunned in the streets.

hilarious.

We fail to make positive correlations with the past events and our current situations until we analyze them in retrospect.

Stop blaming the younger people like a bunch of toothless grumpy old men.

Reality check: history repeats itself because history is written by the victor. The history we're fed is one group's version of the truth that is pushed down the line like playing the telephone game in preschool until eventually somebody prints it and it becomes "fact."

Learn from the lessons of history, but dig deeper and try to truly understand the situation and opposing views. After that, you can only make an educated decision based on what makes sense to you.

Fucking A right bro... Younger people aren't stupid by choice... It's society dumbing them down intentionally to blame. A fucking idiot that only cares about cool autos, beer, and chicken wings is easy to manipulate.

God forbid anyone should know what's really going on...

Did you know in WWII the allies killed over 250,000 German POWs in death camps AFTER the war???? Why would they do this? Perhaps it's easier to rewrite history when the people that know the truth are dead, huh?

There is no "axis of evil"... The US Govt is the most corrupt and evil govt. in the history of the world. This is why the rest of the world hates us - they aren't jealous of our fucking pretend freedom. Ya, you're free alright... Free every year to pay taxes in the amount of 50% of what you make (income, property, sales tax all count here) then you can die.... And if you are a good little slave, you can have a couple years to play golf or whatever old people do before they kick the bucket.

Oh, and that "social security"? Back in the day they set that up so you could retire at 65 - never mind the fact life expectancy was about 62 at the time... What a fucking scam that was. Now it's going broke because the powers have been stealing from it. One of the biggest ponzi schemes ever!

Oh well, there aint no changing it... It is what it is.
