Properly a very stupid question, but why not hang the COBs strait on the power grid.
Sure first make DC out of it whit a diode bridge, and take the ripples out whit a capacitor, but that would save a lot of money on led drivers.
3x36V=108V, thats pretty close to the 110V used in the US, and 6x36V=216V, also pretty close to the 230v in the EU.
