Got a question on your current 2L tub set-up. Are the holes in your 2L bottles in the bottom or at 2"?

the bottles are all cut 5 times vertically 2" at the very bottom, where the 5 bulbus bits are on come out at the bottom of the bottle

That can be rectified. Leave the hose below the tub to stop the siphon ... A rubber bung/plug could be used to block it off.

or .. don't use a hose just use the plug on the outlet piece.

When 'I' describe 'passive', I speak of without the use of pumps. basically, just using capillary action or wicking. In the same way as growing in soil is a passive method, but obviously not hydroponics.

It was just a suggestion anyways.

I'm still hopeful that now the seed has been planted that some consideration will be given rather than this apparent dismissal. Who knows.

That's what I was thinking, so with the new tub in tub, will you be doing the same? Holes in the bottom on the inner tub to take advantage of the extra rez around the inner tub?

Mostly inspired by 420fied to try the snow white. In reading the reviews on RUI, I have yet to see much downside to trying any thing with c99, hybrid or not.

Here is is a good question though - people with these epic phenos, like 420fied, what expectation should people have to get a keeper like that out of 5 seeds? Slim to none or is it likely?

i was thinking about moving the inner tote to a tray res one day so if i put holes in the floor it would limit future uses. im leaning toward the "tub in tub" method now and im thinking of having a 2"x 0.5" vertical hole in each side of the inner tub, this way i can put a little mesh over with ease, the holes should be large enough to flood the tub, though it may prove easier to have four large holes, my only concern is that the res tub will never dry out so after watering, the run off will mix with whats left from the last watering and so on the whole way through....

but i like this aswell ...

i would like this setup but with a larger res and maybe some tubes connecting the run off to the res but tbh this may be a test of my diy skills and my patience

likely, one would hope. ... Nirvana are a highly respected European breeder so expect at least 1 good pheno from your 5. They know all about Indica's from way back when .. The trick will be spotting it and holding onto the genes.

Ive not seen 420's SW. ... I'll take a looksy.

If you like the look of the SW and it suits you, you can always buy another 5pack to search for different pheno's.

Next year I wanted to do the same in searching for a good pheno out of slh, holy grail kush, GDP and Pineapple Express. But of course not all at the same time as that would would be too much work. With GDP I was going to get 10 to 20 regular beans (search of the purple pheno with a killer smoke along with good yields) and the other strains I will try to find a good mother out of a feminized pack.

IDK I really like the looks of that tote. I really want to try a solo plant in a large tote. Maybe for this summer grow, one big girl under the 350w LED

I think the hardest part of the pheno search is keeping all the clones until you've finished the cure for a final smoke report.

Personally if I was paying money for seeds I'd want it to be an IBL. I have my ak47 beans that are so solid they grow like clones from seed every time.

I'm still hoping mine will purple given the right conditions. Ive only started playing with them. ... Yield looks like it could be better, but the buds are ridiculously dense so who knows when they get on the scales.

There's no reason I can't buy another pack or even try the 'Connoisseur Genetics fem GDP'.

You're right about taking your time and not going all at once. Its very easy to underestimate the work involved in isolating pheno's from one strain let alone several.

Isn't the connoisseur genetics a company who sells Ken's GDP beans feminised?

Both my C99's from Female seeds (shown earlier in this thread) grew the same with killer buds (2 out of 4 in the pack). I will do them again one day with the added knowledge that they stretch like crazy during weeks 1-3. The height restrictions in a 6'6" tent was something to deal with.

Moebius, if you are looking for a solid indica dom to stay within your height limits, I highly suggest looking into LA Confidential by Reserva Privada. It's a total knock out and clones uber fast. I understand you are partial to euro breeders though, but they operate out of the damn from what I gather

I don't mind breeders from the 'New World' either. Its just that some of the Euro guys have been going for a while and did a lot of work on the Afghan strains in the 80's, I just like re-discovering the descendents of these early lines. .... Ken's GDP is stateside and its great!

I do prefer growing Indica's doms, Ive always found them more manageable and easier, even when I grew without my present height limits.

Hybrids are great too, I just want the hybrids I grow to have the flavors of Sativas but with the stout growth of Indica's. One might say the holy grail of Indica dom growing.

Dna and reserve privada (same company) are two guys from the u.s. who moved to where its legal. So technically they are u.s strains and there's only one grand daddy purple and that's kens. Just like how green house seeds came with there strain Kalashnikova wich is ak47xwhite widow, the real and original version is by serious seeds White Russian. I will always try to buy from the original breeder than those who try to copy the originals. Yeah serious seeds cost more but they have some of the top genetics around even with only having a couple of strains.

With new beans in the hatchery and time off from work, its time to get off my ass and test the new mediums a bit for anything weird. I soaked and drained the Grodan rock-wool "grow cubes" and the new "mapito" from Mapito Grow Mediums in R/O water, with transparent party cups for a visual. Conclusions thus far... 1. Both mediums are clean, no apparent contaminants seen in the soak water when dumped. The mapito I currently grow in from another supplier was "dirty" and needed thorough rinsing. 2. The grow cubes compacted a bit as you can see from the level in the cup. This maybe the initial swell & sink of the rock-wool...don't know with successive watering's yet. The new mapito sample stayed put with no tendency for the foam to float either. 3. Both have lots of air pockets left in between chunks. Air spaces are larger between the rock-wool cubes but may decrease over time with compaction and no foam separator. 4. The grow cubes retained more water as is noticed easily by the mass of the cup after dumping soak water. The foam in the mapito stays very dry after the dump. At this point one could weigh the advantages of each, less watering frequency due to higher water retention while still maintaining large air spaces, or smaller more abundant air spaces with less water retention (increased watering frequency). One combo makes bigger, higher yielding plants.

Arrrrggggghhhh. Bought the wife a new Lenovo Yoga with a 3rd gen i5 processor and SSD....lightening fast it is....but what a suck-ass operating system Win8 is. Geesus, they made every thing like a dammed smart phone. Thankfully I bought the touch screen but shit, you are so limited you can't do shit with a freaking mouse in the start screen. You have to know a bunch of keyboard shortcuts to do what was once a simple click away. They do have a Win7 desktop you can resort too but there isn't even a freaking start menu on it. I'm computer savvy and I'm shocked at what Microsoft just pushed down our throats. Hold off hempy, brothers.....don't even go there right now. They have some serious work to do at Microsoft. Just Google it....everyone is pissed that paid money for it.
