Jela, thanks for the reply, but I was thinking of a second hole, someone said they made more than 1 hole...adding air would be like a mini bubbler in a 2 liter...
Nizza, It doen't matter what medium I've ever grown in, even soil....when the pots ran dry I noticed a huge growth spurt thereafter. Other growers have noticed the same and laid claim to the "air" factor. I run a variety of mediums these days...plain coco coir above a perlite res was very successful for a year or so but just got a little boring due to it's ease of setup. I really wanted to push the envelope further to eventually match DWC-like yields with the hempy method so I've ventured out into mapito, rockwool grow cubes and now a blend of coco and rockwool chunks. I've never really mixed coco with perlite thought I know growers that do...seems like most of my work has been to remove perlite from the picture all together and demonstrate what the hempy method is capable of. Hempy buckets started out years ago as "all perlite"....then Dali Hempy himself set a new standard with plain coco coir over a perlite res. Tweaking the medium is one of the last frontiers left in the hempy world unless you come up with an innovative method of getting air in the medium otherwise.@ jela, your coco+ perlite hempy method is a 75%coco 25% perlite with a perlite base yes? how do you think this would do with instead of the 75/25 go straight coco and just use the hempy res, and force air up through the coco. i was thinking this might be bad cause its bad to dry out the center of the root mass but not the sides, but at the same time thinking if the water was slowing the air flow through the hempys would it turn out to be good for the hempys( inward air pruning)? as long as i dont dry them out? I know that you showed me your method but i just want some of your input ! also anyone elses even though u may not have a lot of coco exp.!
Several here, most notably Chaka, run holes all round the container...I think Chaka has an eight-holer (LOL).Jela, thanks for the reply, but I was thinking of a second hole, someone said they made more than 1 hole...adding air would be like a mini bubbler in a 2 liter...
LOL Shiva, I have a big Kush top that cured to a similar smell. But until you described it that way I always referred to it as "vomit".Larger one smells like old cheese dipped in diesel
First off, when you say SOFT water do you mean that it has been through a water softener, or it just has a low mineral content coming out of the tap.Hi guys, This is my first hempy grow and my second grow, I used coco first, didn't turn out to well and someone on RIU suggested hempy, Well, already I have a few issues, (See Pics) Also, what is the right ph for hempy? using dutch pro nutrients, and it's soft water, they are Greenhouse seeds TrainWreck, (Tried DP Blueberries first Grow, What a nightmare of a strain) I'm a little unsure of Symptoms at the moment, what means what, They are on 0.6 EC at the moment with 5.6-5.7 PH but the runoff PH is 6.9. All help appreciated, cheers guys
Great thread by the way!
