Ok so I have a 8x10 wood built room with a 600d grow room inside. The room will be totally sealed and waterproof only to have a resealable trap door in the roof and holes for the ducting

This whole set up will then be placed in a hole in the woods( and run wires underground from my crawlspace) and then reburyed in dirt. The ducts will be ran to poke out of the dirt some 20 feet away.

Ill have 2 600w hps lights and I'm wondering if the heat from the lights could be picked up directly thru the dirt and the wood room, or from the heat running out of the ducts?

Lemme know what u guys think and any solutions you would have for me. Thanks so much

Please keep answers relative to my qyestion, I know tthere's other variables to my success with this set up.

your gonna need air in there. i recently heard of a gy that had a bus buried under his garage and was growing in that, flir will more than likley pick up a heat sig tho. unless you use some sort of ir blocker. just my opinion. ive seen several things on it and we have it in my state. itd be comparabble to seeing a warm spot in the cold ground, need for investigation. meth labs do this and they look for crazy shit like that

The grow room I have is coated in ir blocker but the warmer air coming out the duct is more what I'm worried about.

Maybe air conditioning plus heavy exauast, and I duct the air flow underground so it comes up in my crawl space where npbody would question heat?

Oh ok cool so I should just be able to duct my rooms air flow right out to the forest floor with no worries of the temp?

I'm kinda thinkin about 400 watters instead of the 6 to keep It cooler.

This guy says..."don't do it!"..lol...two 600w lights out in the pitch black woods, your 8x10 would have to be extra light/heat proof. If you got the money it can be done just seems like a lot of time, effort and money for such a small grow op.GL

Damn, that's my house! B166ER420 stop doing fly-bys, a-hole, buds aren't ready yet.

I agree with you, little paranoia in your design OP for the scale, but I guess it doesn't hurt to be cautious. I'd drop some bucks on LED and forget about the heat sigs.

Can leds produce the same grow results as hps? Like is there 600w leds.

I'm worried they would produce a lot slower growth

research your leds. some are great but some suck, i used two 90 ufos as supplement and i personally think it done a hella good job.

And what about t5s? I found a company that sells big lamps of them. 56w a lamp..maybe 2 sets of 12 lights? That be around 1300w

The answer to your question is: yes.
That's an uneducated answer. Visit the LED section OP and you will find a lot of help with LED panel selection. You can easily reproduce the HID lighting in a 8x10 grow and yes the up front cost is high but the advantages over HID are significant enough to overcome the higher costs.

LEDs cover a fixed foot print of your grow space at a specific height (umol'/s: more info) and just like HID come in different wattages. Many experienced growers on RIU use LED and like me have replaced their HID fixtures. I think LED gets cost prohibitive on larger scale grows but in your application this could be a viable solution. At least something to consider that would remove the risk of fire, risk of heat signatures and detection, no bulb replacements, less money on ventilation equipment, and lower the huge electric consumption, just to name a few benefits.

Good luck, I'm sure you will find a solution that works best for you.
