Nice pics...I am in day 13 of flowering i just got my first signs of pistils today. The pics of your plants is very encouraging. I cant wait for another 5 days so I can hopefully have some buds like yours!

When would u say vertical growth slows or stops and the plant gets bushier?

why did you ditch the foxfarm?

I want to keep my grows organic.. just a personal decision mostly. There was a post in the organic section by Videoman40 that argued that you wouldn't have to flush when growing with organics because of a lack of salt build-up... that made sense too. Mostly, I'm just want to keep things as natural as possible while indoors.

Most Fox Farm nutes are not organic... just their Big Bloom.

Thanks Lostnadrm...

I seems that the vertical growth has really slowed over the past few days.. which is right on with what I've seen more knowledgeable growers on here says.. week 2 or 3.

Now as far as getting bushier... It would think that bepend on the strain and as my grow is showing me... the individual plant. So hard to say if or when the overall plant gets bushy... but hopefully the buds start getting growing bigger tall and thicker now that the stretch seems to have tailed off. Check back an see for yourself... :)

Hiya Porterhouse

I'm pleased to see you're going down the 'organic' route - I think you'll be very pleased with the results you get.

Regarding flushing and organic nutrients, what Videoman40 said in his thread is largely correct, however, I'd like to add to that - you cannot assume that just because you're using organic nutrients that means you'll never have to flush.

What it does mean is, the liklihood of you having to flush is greatly reduced when compared to chemical salt fertilisers. Contrary to popular belief, organic fertilisers do and can build up excess salts in the growing medium - but they do so at a much slower rate than pure chemical based fertiliser salts, primarily because 1) they possess much smaller NPK ratios generally than chemical based fertilisers and 2) they break down (and release their salt/ions) at a much slower rate than chemical based fertilisers.

That still doesn't mean Organic nutrients cannot build up toxic salt excesses, or that it cannot burn plants - it can and does.

The key to knowing whether to 'flush' or not depends entirely on your skill as a grower in understanding the nutrient requirements of your plants. If you feed them at the correct level (whether using chemical salt fertilisers, quasi-organic or 100% organic) and slowly reduce down the nutrient feeding towards harvest - you shouldn't have a need to flush excess nutrients - because the plants already used them up. If however you're feeding at far too high a level, then excess salts can build up meaning that you do have to flush towards harvest regardless of what nutrients you've been using.

It's important you understand this distinction.

Good luck with the rest of your grow :)

So I one heard from one of you regarding the nute issue.. and I'm not sure I agreed so I just keep up with folair feeding Epsom salt. Today I watered both with 1 Tbls ES, 3 Tbls big bloom, 2 Tbls molasses, 2 Tbls flowering nutes in 1 gal of water... pH ~6.2.

The water uptake has slowed since I lost about half of the fan leaves from both plants. But many leave still seem healthy. here are some buds shots...

Here are some pics of the remaining fans... any thoughts on what is happening and suggestions are welcome. I tend to think it's just natural growth cycle.. but I sure could be wrong. There is a pile of dead leaves to prove me wrong too...

I decided to flush because things are getting so bad with them and I’ve tried everything else I can think of. It took about 12 gal. per plant to get the water mostly clear and a pH around 6.5. I should have done that a long time ago. But with two or three weeks left I hope that helps to kick things into overdrive. During the flush I realized that the Britta tap water filter needed to be changed. I figure I’ve been using straight tap with Cl and all for the past few weeks. I’m sure that hurt the girls too.

I also hit them with a final shot of 1 Tbls of molasses in 2.5 quarts of water.

I checked the tris today too and most are clear.. but they are starting to some on more. I’ve started testing the little buds low down for the buzz, and yes it’s a heady high. Here are some pics…

These are all plant #1.

Ok so I got back from a week long trip and they were almost dried out because I didn’t water them before I left. So I it them with some water a couple of days ago. I also have started two days with no light. Then I’m going to harvest tomorrow. I’ve been checking the tris and they are turning brown. The hairs are turning red too. So one more day and it’s just curing. I’ll try to get a wet yield after I trim them.

these are mostly of plant #1
