Yet another LED thread.

Don't get your e-feelings hurt man, you just sounded like someone defending a company that has been widely exposed as being extra shady. There is a ton of evidence to back this claim and also Scott/Cammie used to post the hell out of every led thread, consistently attack other brands, and was banned several times. The new lights might actually be good but there are too many weird x factors surrounding the company for me to patronize them. Especially when there are some really great brands on the market.

either way you'll be golden. I have the 180 too, the first light I got from them. Let me know if you start a journal up, I'd follow along because not many people around here use advancedled and I love checking out what other growers are getting done with them.

I probably will do a journal. I tried a cfl grow this summer and tried to journal it but my outdoor crop ate up so much of my time that i didn't update as much as i should of. I'm free this winter so i will be able to devote all my time to it. One reason i got it was to make crosses this winter for outdoors next year.
But i have some c-99 seeds i want to try out for smoke so i may run them.

AdvancedLED......Man, I love these lights!! Especially the new diamond series. As for the "PenetratorXXX"or what thefuckever they named their product....even if it was as good as it's competition.....it's almost $1000 dollars more! For no reason! Hopefully we can put this brand behind us now. And talk more about Advanced :)

please do start a journal man. This board needs more first hand led journals. Am psyched to see the diamond series in action.

i know i should probably make another thread for this but I dont wanna be a pain in the ass and start opening new thread after new thread.

Apparently after talking it over with my grow partner instead of adding LED's at this point in time we (their idea originally) are thinking about getting a clone/mother room set up. He talked me into it and I gotta admit he's right. Convinced me that our $$$ (we split all growing costs) would be better spent on setting up a clone/mother "chamber" in a 6ft tall 5ft wide and 1-2ft deep area.

So i thought we should use fluorescent lights. the fixture i thought would work for clones is a 4ft 2 lamp fixture & a 4ft 4 lamp or 6 lamp fixture for the mothers. my buddy thinks we should use a 250MH for mothers.

thoughts?

Yeah it will be cheaper in the short run with the scenario you described above. Everyone knows leds are very expensive up front, but the equation really does correct itself over the long haul. If you and your partner are going to be doing this for more than 3 years I'd take another look at the math with increased electric costs and bulb replacement. If you want to maintain lumen efficacy over a 36 month period you will have to replace your floro and HID bulbs at least twice during that period. If you look at all the x factors over a 36 month period you might be surprised. This, assuming the leds in question carry a 3 year warranty which most reputable companies offer.

You've convinced me. trust me. im sold on the LED idea but my partner makes sense (imo) because doing a clone/mother area means we will finally have two separate grow spaces. one for flower and one for clones/mothers/veg. Thats really the big seller on this one. he knows ive been wanting a 12/12 area and a 18/6, 20/4 or 24/0 area.

I still intend on replacing my HID lights with LED's in the near future but at this time we really can't afford to do both.

I agree with what you said. I did the same thing starting out, got HID/fluoro lighting going until i got some crops under my belt. This will not only allow you to save up some cash, making the initial hit on LED's a little easier to swallow, but you'll also have a little more experience, and will most likely translate to more success once you DO end up switching over to LED's. I hope that made sense lol I just wakenbaked.

actually that makes perfect sense.
Lol thanks guys!

My main motivation is having two independent grow spaces now. Ive always just used one room for veg, flower everything. ive had to start and harvest crops all the way through so theres lots of down time between harvests (3-4 months on avg from germination to chop). Im excited to start a second are (even if its a the size of a glorified closet).

Im pretty sure i'll be set with the 2ft 2bulb fixture for clones/cuttings (plan on sticking two loaded 10x20 trays under it)

For the mothers/vegging plants: sometimes ill be doing mothers for clones...other times id like to veg my plants for my (soon to be) designated flower room which will have 2 600w hid lights. The flower room i'd like to run like this: 1 600w is designated to plants in the 1st month of the bloom cycle and the 2nd 600w will be designated to plants in the 2nd month of the bloom cycle (assuming i run 8wk strains).

so since ill be requiring a lot from my light for my vegging plants or mothers i think i'll need to step it up to a 4ft 6bulb t5 fixture or a 4ft 8bulb t5. im not sure which....i could use an opinion on this. i feel like a 400w mh would be overkill and wouldnt give the kind of footprint needed considering the vegging plants/mothers will have to be side by side by side by side instead of in rows or groups (like how you would grow under an HID)

Im psyched to do this. Ill finally always have something in veg and bloom at the same time (i previously didnt think i could do this due to my situation and size of my grow space).

fyi the flower area is huge like 10 x12 or 8x10 (cant remember exactly)

the veg area im speaking of btw is 83 inches tall...7 ft wide...25inches deep. its pretty small...i wanna put the clones on a shelf (hanging the t5 fixture from the ceiling). then have the mothers on the floor BELOW the shelf the clones sit on with the t5 fixure for the mothers suspended from that shelf the clones are on.

hope i didnt lose you guys on that one...its late and im stoned. lol

so to make it simple if you were looking at the finished room from ceiling to floor this is what you'd see in order:

ceiling
t5 fixture hooked to ceiling
clones under fixure sitting on shelf
shelf
t5 fixture hooked to shelf above
mothers/vegging plants side by side
floor.

open to suggestions but i think its a solid idea so far. just need to figure out what ill need for the moms/veg plants.

New LED's are expensive, but think of it this way:a big price tag comes with new technology because of all the R&D that goes into the product. Once R&D have been done and moves onto new and more exciting things (like LEP), the price tag drops substantially (given a couple of years). Either way you look at it, investing (now or later) in high quality LED's is a good investment, seeing how they're suppose to last 12 years (50,000hrs) if they run at 12/12 non stop and by the 12th year the light intensity will diminish by only 40 percent.

See what a 800W (710W actual) ADVANCED LED diamond series light is capable of performing. Tune in for the last 30 days of flowering!

ok correction guys. apparently a 8 bulb t5 fixture wont work...most are 26 inches wide. my space is only 25inches deep. *is frustrated*

so i either gotta go with 4ft 6 bulb fixture OR a 250-400w mh.

thoughts?
