YYC Grows yellow plants :-(

Here is a pic from this morning. I thought the nutrients were a bit hot because I'm seeing some leaf burn. The plants are doing better now that the humidity is a lot higher. I do see a few roots sticking out the bottom of the pots so I'm going to transplant once my back feels better. The plants had gone 6 days without any water, then I soaked them a couple of days ago.@danjac82 what are you seeing that tells you the plants are over watered and under fed? Thanks.

I've heard that an inch or so of sand on top of the soil prevents them from laying eggs too. Also, you're spot-on for watering, where at this small size, you shouldn't be watering more than once a week at most. Let the pots get really light, and let the plants just start to droop from thirst. Then water at/just after lights come on, and be sure to fully soak the soil with about 20% runoff. That will help prevent buildup of excess salts. Also, what's nutes line that you use, and what's your water ph? Your young leaves have that "pillowy" look that suggests minor ph stress, and a little clawing of the older leaves.

So would a person mix that Rosemary/Neem oil like, 50/50 or something? I like the Rosemary in there. Don't need it right now, but I have a section in my notes for "Recipes". The more you know...

My last batch of ProMix gave results similiar to that.I got a new/fresher batch,up rooted to bare root and transplated . 7-10 days later problems were gone.

My water is about .35 EC out of the tap with a pH of 7.5. When I water or feed I adjust the water or nutrient solution to a pH around 5.9. Maxigro and maxibloom are the nutrients that I'm using. I thought the stress to the plants was caused by too low humidity. I thought the plants are recovering and the greening up near the centre of the leaves a good thing. Now I'm unsure what to do. I don't think a new bag of promix HP is going to help as my previous plants looked the same and they were from a different batch of promix. My bluelab pH meter is new and freshly calibrated so any pH issues are due to me screwing up. The couple of gnats I see aren't going to cause any issues at this stage of growth are they? I love growing but I'm losing hair over it, lol.

Relax- you're doing fine! Those levels sounds good. They look okay, i was seeing a potential slight ph stress, but might not be. Sorry if i freaked you out! Lol If they're greening up, that's obviously a good thing! Keep the same approximate watering schedule, making sure to let them dry out pretty good between waterings.

I suppose you could make your own. I've always just bought mine at the local grow store. Comes in a big pump spray bottle ready to go, and lasts forever for like $15. It's a weak solution of like 5-10% oils emulsified in "other ingredients" (water)... i guess gnats are really common, and not a big deal if managed to xmall numbers. It's only when there are crazy infestations where they can actually hurt your roots a significant amount to make a difference. Sticky traps and the occasional spray of the topsoil has worked perfect for me!Thanks

judging by the growth overnight they are mostly happy campers. Perhaps there are other things I need to do for them but for now things are going ok, thanks Chg.

Yeah, i noticed you're almost 90% rh lol. I think 65% during veg and 45-50% during flowering is the sweet spot. The plants probably don't mind it, but anything over 75-80% could create mold issues down the road. I also struggled with my rh for the first couple grows until i pulled the trigger on a bigger humidifier with a built in humidistat. Life changing, and was only like $80 on Amazon... your girls look super happy! Keep up the good work!!judging by the growth overnight they are mostly happy campers. ..again, so great to be here! That's what I thought (yellow sticky tags) - looks like you maybe started with some older promix..? As you've mentioned, going hydro takes care of those sorts of issues - and also isn't quite as messy (not that yours is messy - just from my experience going from soil to water..
) when setting up, repotting etc.. Do you have any fans running in your tent?

Technically, the freezing cold should kill most of them (no guarantees) - but considering the cost of a bag or 2 of it, I'm not sure it would be worth it...lol. When I switched from soil to hydro, I had a bunch of promix left-over that I ended up adding as 'filler' to our outside garden...big mistake - we're still seeing perlite in our garden soil to this day, and it just looks ugly as the white perlite turns yellowish and just looks bad during really dry days outside. I also dumped a bunch of our used soil into the composter, and now whenever we take compost for the garden, it has perlite in it..sigh.

That's what I thought (yellow sticky tags) - looks like you maybe started with some older promix..? As you've mentioned, going hydro takes care of those sorts of issues - and also isn't quite as messy (not that yours is messy - just from my experience going from soil to water..
I let the humidity drop during the dark cycle in an attempt to prevent mold. The thing that worries me with going hydro is cleaning the system every week or two. That cleaning sounds hard on the back muscles.

So putting bag outside in the cold doesn’t kill them? You could use the oven and bake them out. Haha.

As soon as I figured out where they were coming from, that bag went outside. It's still there, and if this cold doesn't kill them - nothing will.
