Burglar's relative says: "He could have used a warning shot first..."

Was he supposed to wait until the guy got close?

Used kung-fu?

Fuck that.

I'm not going to shoot a motherfucker for property....more than likely...not for any major concern over the thief, mind you, but just to avoid the g'damn legal hassle. However, I've got NO problem whatsoever for those that would, in jurisdictions where it is indeed legal to do so.

I would rather see dead thieves than ripped off citizens.

Hell, the g'damn government will send men with guns to try and lock you in a cage if THEY don't get "THEIRS", and if you resist, they'll shoot your ass dead. If it's good enough for the government, it's good enough for citizens trying to defend themselves, their families, and their possessions.
Except the one running towards him angled away enough to get shot in the back. The plainclothes cop on the scene actually said they both "took fire from the rear". The cops were on the way; there was already one there. Presumably, he was awaiting backup and then saw some dumbass come out with a gun and start yelling at people. Had he actually let the police do their damn job, this could have played out entirely differently. They would have likely been arrested and had their day in court. This guy acted as a vigilante when there was absolutely no need to. He wanted to be a hero when there was no need. So now two guys are dead because he left his house to confront two people who were not a danger to anyone. He had no reason to suspect anyone was in danger. Nor was anyone threatening him before he armed himself and decided to play dirty harry.

since your pot plant is technically a "felony" under federal law you have no right to defend your dope.

you DO have the right (and to my mind the obligation) to drop the hammer on a carjacker, armed robber, mugger, rapist, car thief or burglar trying to jack your neighbor's shit.

i would hope they would do the same for me.
In CA I can legally own it with my doctors rec, and it's CA state law that dictates who I can shoot and when. So I see no reason why state courts would find me guilty of anything. So if you saw some kid stealing $50 worth of property, you wouldn't see any issue with gunning them down?

The only time I can fathom deadly force being at all reasonable is when another life is reasonably at risk. Otherwise, you're just killing a person for money.

nope i would citizens arrest him.

if he dropped the goods and ran, no sweat. i aint much of a track star any more. he can flee. if he tried to resist i would beat his ass, or shoot him.

i am not talking shoplifting or grabbing sixer of coors and running for the parking lot, but even if theres just $20 in change in the register i would drop the hammer on a clown trying to rob me at the quickie mart.

trusting to a robber's good will and reasonable judgement is foolish.

anybody sneaking into my neighbors house is BEGGING to get citizen's arrested and his he makes any funny moves, yeah, he is getting smoked.

I'm with you on this when taken as a single act. But I'm curious if this shooting saves lives in the long run. You can bet that low-lifes will be avoiding that neighborhood for awhile.

How the unattributed article quotes the sister-in-law: "He could have used a warning," "He could have let him know that he did have a gun on his property and he would use it in self-defense."

How Ben portrays the sister-in-law: 'Deyfon, yo' needs to quit breakin' into dose peoples' houses and Stealin dey shit. Someone is goins to pop a cap in yo' ass.'

Keep it classy dude.

Unclebuck, I've been on this forum for a couple of months and noticed that you have your little penis in nearly everybody's thread.
You're starting to remind me of a Richard Pryor joke I once heard about the monkey. I remember, faintly, the punch line..."somebody get this fucking monkey's dick out of my ear"! Your .02 cents isn't worth your .02 cents. If you were to stick with subjects you might know a little something about it sure would be a lot quieter in this forum and the others that you litter with the vomit spewing from your keyboard.
You must have been neglected as a child and are now seeking attention or approval.

Please do not respond.

Lol

i have friends down in louisiana who have woken up to their elderly neighbor making breakfast in their kitchen.

if joe horn were my neighbor, i might have been shot dead in my driveway the one time i locked myself out.

not everything is so cut and dry.
Elderly people don't gain entry to locked homes, nor do they climb in windows to make breakfast. The front door was open and the old coot didn't know where he was.

The next question would be, why would you climb through your neighbors window if you know he's home, wouldn't you ring the doorbell first?
