I'll tell you this ....

If one 640 nm hamamatsu chip red led (the ones used in astir panels ) was double the distance from plants that this epiled red led is ,
green tissue would probably ( 99%) have been severely damaged from excess light ..
IF it was an OSLON hyper red that close to the plant ?
I can not even imagine about it....

The peak wl is right ,of those reds ....(at least when operating as cool as possible ..)

As for the output power levels....
Well ,you can see for yourself ....

They are running very low, about 220mA. But even with the vero 10 (3W of pure light) the leaves can be just a couple of centimeters away with no ill effect. I have found that extra magnesium prevents light bleaching to some extend.

Well,it does have a logical base behind it,at least ...

Magnesium,is mainly used to form Chlorophylls...
At high red irradiation plants do synthesise more and more chlorophylls (and smaller -smaller leaves )..
( Up to a certain point.After that starts the photo-saturation ..)
Thus needing more Mg....

Yes,I 've noticed that also .During vegging mainly ...
With all kinds of red leds ...But especially with the 640-660 nm ones ...
An excess number of 620-630 reds is needed to see something analogous,as with the deeper reds ..

!!!! My white Oslons (36 in total @700mA NW 95 CRI 4000K +WW 80 CRI 3000K ) are bleaching the tops ,if closer than 25-30CM ( ~1 ' )!!!
BUT...
They also emit at 80°...

I have a theory. Get enough white in the mix..bleaching magically disappears.

i expected loads of bleaching with all my red leds after past experiences. Ummm...not quite. I had one tiny bleach spot so far from a bud about a inch from my 360w light.

Too much lasers with monochromatics...not enough broad spectrum love.

Had I had my glh spectra or prosource this close I'd have bleached out tops everywhere. And they are a fraction as bright as this light..

Might even flower better on its own than a 3000k 80cri?

think there is a efficiency penalty with osions also when comparing output to xml l2 or cxa. But the colors are accurate and beam built in which is nice. Good for testing and growing

thats where my interest lies lately. People experimenting with colors and showing proof of the results. Once the color choices become more standardized commercial will make more sense. But for now, with companies having a new spectrum every so many months or hiding the chips they use and not being transparent, DIY is the most logical choice. And not just showing spectrums..but grows under their belt from personal testing.

Seems the people growing in legal medical or otherwise scenarios should be the ones selling panels. They could freely show their results with herb...not lettuce or tomatoes.

Eventually a led source will become available that is so efficient and powerful it will make all this moot for the most part I think..

I have followed you for a few years.

Unless you know WHICH el cheapos to buy, and how to mount them properly (don't make me post some of the boards you torched along the way) you are most likely to wind up with light failure at many different junctions.

I just watched a YT video of an Eshine light where the entire pcb/chip screws in/out - no direct solder to heat sink. Hell, if they only last one year, the annual replacement cost should be a lot less than I spend for hot5 tubes AND the tech will improve

(in the later to be ASTIR ASL panels ,which use the same CC driver ...

Why you do jot send an e-mail to Astirgrows.com ,and request anything about the leds you're interested in ?

I vacillate between CW and NW. I suppose it depends on the specs, as well as how either interfaces with the choice of WW

Yes,I 'm aware of couple of leds ...
Which probably take advantage of that so called Emerson Effect ...

Warm Whites 2700 K CR I95 + Hyper red (660 ) leds ...
