Thanks for posting this Dan Kone.

I strive for my concentrates to be the cleanest possible. If there was any contest like what you mention, and I had access to it, I would enter my concentrates. There wouldn't be anything negative to be found. If I entered it would be like I currently grow, 100% organic, no pesticides and I would make sure I used grain alcohol as the solvent. Especially if I were to spend $1K to find out. :D

its 100 bux plus oil, I dunno where this 1000k "$1000" LoL price is unless your giving the oil portion a retail markup.

Not sure if you are referring to me but here is where I got it from. I must say $100 is more reasonable.

By the way, 1000K = 1,000,000 :D

The thing that was made clear to me, is that all of the entries paid a $1000 to enter, thinking they had the winning extract, and all but one was wrong.

All felt theirs would pass the lab tests for residual solvent before plunking down that $1K, and a number were wrong there as well.

I personally think there should be different standards for the different solvents, because they aren't all created equally toxic, and in the case of butane, relatively non toxic in the amounts typically found.

The way many brothers and sisters leave butane in their shatter, is by processing at too low a temperature for it to readily escape, but for longer periods. That is why we use 115F for a shorter period, that still retains adequate monoterpenes.

1 out of 29 entries and that for a 710 cup in South Cali is very scary.
Shatter being the most prized or at least the most expensive extract on the market makes it even more so.

This is why I consider shatter to be nothing more than a fad.
