Well if I can make enough CO2 oil with this kit, to determine what our local market demand is for CO2 oil, I've almost got my wife talked into forgoing our badly needed new car, for a $30,000 automated Apex CO2 machine......!

If potential for large profit id do it only if your guaranteed buyers

I'm pretty sure if I just kept it on the heat, it would continue to get stiffer.....
Yes, you can turn it into shatter if you just keep heating/vacuuming. This is a matter of preference, not health.

If you were able to maintain a stable density of solvent (CO2), as in with a pump system, you could spend most of your time at pressures near 4000PSI and above to achieve a waxier extract from the beginning.

Being that this is passive, it starts at whatever maximum you let it go to, within safe operating limits, and depressurizes as it is collected. Most of the time is spent between 2000-3000PSI during the collection process because it is hard to maintain anything higher in this situation without tremendous heat. You end up with a good mix of heavier molecular weight oils, and lighter terpenes IMO so it has not deterred me.

In general SCFE extracts at lower pressures will be in a mobile phase. If you want the oil to be thinner for your syringes, cap your maximum pressure at 2500-3000PSI, even lower perhaps. This way less wax will have ever made it into solution in the first place.

Oh, and these are pertaining specifically to my at-home system. Not necessarily SCFE in general.

Yea you have some very legitimate concerns their ......

Im thinking You should replace that pressure relief valve every so many hours of use . Just my 2 cents
Yes, very legitimate. I would like to add a couple of notes, though.

Air compressor pressure vessels are thin walled, welded tanks, that do not have the same standards that SCUBA and CO2 tanks must undergo.

These steel SCUBA tanks have been in commission for decades and abuse tested. I never go above 200F, as that is the limit for the 300BAR working pressure rating for these tanks that the factory designed them for. In fact if you are skiddish, it is not necessary to go above 120F in any case. What this does is put a limit to your pressure maximum, slow the process down, and give you a smaller yield.

As far as relief valves, as they weaken they release at a lower and lower pressure over time. Replacing often insures you must reach the maximum before they vent. So not necessarily safer.

My small system is rough around the edges for sure, but I do appreciate everyone's interest.

Too early to tell yet, what we are getting from it is a thick waxy paste. I guess I don't know what to do with it next. Ill post a pic in a few min.
I will say this thing is too slow & cumbersome for commercial use. It's ok for making your own......
I accept the criticism, but I have only ever advertised the SCUBA for at-home use (to the dismay of another set of critics).

Things to speed up the process:

-Chill the SCUBA while being filled
-Either place a couple pieces of dry ice in the bottom, or fill a small amount of liquid CO2 in the SCUBA and release the pressure. This chills the tank and leaves dry ice inside.
-Use warm water to heat the storage tank, and not the heating mat. (HAVE ALL VALVES FULLY OPEN BETWEEN THE TWO TANKS BEFORE SETTING STORAGE TANK IN WATER)

Hey jyn how about the cotton jyn for just bho im interested in getting it...I saw ur vid and u said u refill it 2/3 times ...would it be better to unpack and repack the same material then run.it again?

My comments were for clarification, not a criticism. I highly (pun intended) recommend this system.

Little trick for you: Do not open the collection container while dry ice is still inside. This leads to large amounts of condensation inside the container and also in your extracts. All the icing and condensing you see on the outside, would now be happening inside. Place the container in a warm bath until no audible CO2 releases when the relief valve is pulled. There should also not be any ice, or areas of condensation on the outside of your container.

I typically vacuum the oil before I ever open the collection container. Just use a standard Type H quick disconnect male nipple and whatever adapter you need for your vacuum pump hose.

Do this and you can very easily get wax, crumble, shatter, etc. This is assuming the plant material is fairly dry as well.

If you make a very firm oil, and wish for it to be thinner, go purchase pure d-limonene from a health food store and combine a small amount. There are several low-viscosity terpenes that naturally exist in your plant of choice, which will dissolve and thin out your extracts healthily. I won't mention the company that does this already, but it is commonplace to use terpenes as thinning agents.

If you have a stainless pressure vessel you can extract and combine these terpenes yourself from acidic fruit bodies, etc. It would be even easier to mix a proportion of oranges, lemons, or whatever to your base plant material and wind up with a thinned out pre-dissolved oil.

Do not extract fruits, or wet material in the SCUBA tank please. I was just running off on a tangent.

Sorry Dan, I do not want to hijack the thread on another topic. Also, I do not have a commercial account with this forum and so can not advertise.

My email is [email protected] if you want to talk more.

With the co2 oil is there no need to really purge it

I've only seen it like goop in syringes and I'm used to bho where your looking for a nice solid crumble or honeycomb it's always just a turn off when I see it more like a liquid

My question is for co2 does it not really matter?

Im sure u could cook it down to a dryer texture..low heat and time

did you guys check out jynindustrys new co2 open blast tube with the titanium tension rods?
Sure did, and must wonder if that pound of plant matter is as easily obtainable as lavender, easily worked out as lavender, and the efficiency of that extract and percentage of oil removed from matrix. What's the max pressure and temperature? Why upload a how to video, but not recommend anyone to do so? A bit hypocritical vs supercritical. is he even using a siphon tube from his mama tank? Why not insert in hot water and the receiver vessel in an ice bath? Who knows my logic but Ive need not boast co2 on its own power. It amplifies all co-solvents used and until he finds out for himself, it doesn't stand a chance against carefully selected solvents to appropriate co2 a focused path.
