I mentioned a couple of days ago about UVB light.
I was talking to someone on another thread (possibly cloudflyer, not sure) and we were discussing light and light spectrums, I was given this link to a Mr Marijuana Bud tv video in which he talked about research into Trichomes and THC and why the plant produces THC. As well all know, nature doesn't do anything without reason and the only benefit the plant gets from THC is protection from the suns UVB.
Here is the link to the video. It's a little long winded but very interesting.
YouTube - THC, UVB and Me
As a result of this study, I am adding some UVB to one of my plants to see if it produces more trics or more potent buds or both.
personally, I don't think it's likely to make any difference but, if you don't try, you don't know.
I am using a 5.0 UVB lamp which is not very strong but will be enough to make some difference if indeed it does work.
OK the pics.
Pic 1 is the light with the support I have made for it.
Pic 2 is just showing the view from behind so you can see where it is in the flower room.
Pic 3 is showing the proximity of the light to the plant.
Pic 4 is just a shot I took just after the HPS was switched off. the UVB is still on. These were taken yesterday and are the last pics I managed to upload before my camera decided it doesn't want to play anymore.
I have moved thing around a little and am using the UVB on a different plant. It is still just inside the door but it is on the right and 'Biga', is my guinea pig plant as it has sites on the sides (where the light is concentrated) that look like they will bud.
