That reminds me of a story I read earlier this month. This was taken from an excerpt from the Washington Post on NFL player Steve Smith. You can see the full article here...
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/dc-sports-bog/wp/2014/08/14/steve-smith-says-ravens-will-take-your-applesauce-and-your-spork/

“When I think of a Baltimore Raven — and I’m a Baltimore Raven – what I think of is we go in there, we take your lunch box, we take your sandwich, we take your juice box, we take your applesauce, and we take your spork and we break it. And we leave you with an empty lunch. That’s the Baltimore Raven way, that’s the bully way, and that’s football.”

Funny shit.
yeah Steve Smith is a feisty dude too, he's a little guy if I remember correctly...like 5'8" or so, a Martial artist too, You talkin about the ex-Carolina panther? Right? The wide out?
nevermind, I just saw the pic on the link, that's him

I intend to create more mistakes before death, I own them all.
It's so much easier to own it. Like I said, I still shutter on what a dumbass dick I looked like. But live and learn, apologies and try to prevent from doing it again.

I know nothing about sports lol. Only one I care about is hockey and curling, and I'm not fanatical about either. Soccer (football) is pretty interesting and I started liking that

Shit, I'm still embarrassed when I look back at a couple of arguments I got into it with people where I was wrong. My behavior was pretty shitty, and certainly not shining me in a good light. But at least I can apologize and hope I learn not to be like that in the future. We all make mistakes, question is do you own them or try to avoid them?
That's a really mature way to look at it, many don't possess the fortitude to acknowledge that.
I come from a factual field, I pretty much don't argue unless I KNOW for a fact i'm right, and if i'm stating an opinin I try to make it clear that it is so, prior to saying anything inflammatory.
A wise person once told me, an argument isn't always bad, it either gets to show others how knowledgeable, you are, by being correct about something, or teaches you something by being incorrect and learning from others. The key is to NOT get emotional about it.
I'm just as full of shit as others about many things, but I do know a LOT about the things I care about. Automotive technology, physics, science, botany, etc, etc. But ask me almost anything rudimentary about computers, and i'll look at you with a blank stare, and possibly a line of drool may form at the corner of my mouth, you may also hear a slight helpless moaning sound too...

Well written. I try to go by the idea of "if this person was in front of me, would I really talk to them like that? Would I really be so aggressive with my responses?"

Some people, yes but again I try to remember there is a person behind the screen. It's not always easy though

don't get me wrong, I have a healthy list of people I "ignore" on this site, it's damn useful, in fact.

I don't actually use that feature, seems like I'd miss out on some good drama if I did.

We all have bad days, but it's so easy to not think of some poster on a board you've never met as an idiot. I try to remember perhaps some days that person can be me

Really?

Have a look at 3 16 year old schoolgirls who are - I mean, were - non-Americans. I'm sure there must be a reason this is also the U.S.'s fault.

Been doing some reading on this ISIS crew. Unreal

Here's a question I'd like to pose to you guys....

If you were in charge, which option would you choose:

1) Pull all troops and aid from that corner of the globe. It's none of our business, let them sort it out

2) Engage in their affairs, but only through diplomacy and monetary sanctions

3) Use small, tactical teams to take out the leaders of ISIS

4) Hit them through the use of airstrikes and drones

5) Boots on the ground conventional warfare ala Iraq and Afghanistan

6) Turn the place in to a parking lot. These are savages that cannot be trusted, and will not ever shake their ideology of killing infadels. Kill them all

hmm, maybe you possess more patience than I do, if someone says something completely stupid and argumentative to me, about a FACT, I have NO patience for that. In recent memory I had to ignore a fellow that said that pot plants don't use nitrogen during flowering... he was very opinionated about it, and I don't have time to convince people of things they should know. Nor do I feel like I should have to. I simply don't have the time for that, if I donated that time, it robs from my girlfriend, job, dog, or my hobbies. I have to have a HIGH opinion of somebody to do that...
I know I sound a lil arrogant, and perhaps a bit of an elitist. But that's the way it is

I was just having this convo last night stow, and I opted for the parking lot option Initally because It felt easy and as you pointed out that I feel they will always have the intent of wiping us off the face of the earth...
but it just isnt humane and while it would be qucker than most options but that doesnt make it a viable option. Really I do not think it is one of those answers by itself, but I think it starts by getting to the muslims who are not yet radical and ask fr their help in beating back the radicalization movement in muslims that is gaining ground with every american air strike

So in short, pull out troops, assist the locals with precision air strikes when needed while giving them financial aid to get some kind of infrastructur going to bring in jobs and money. Building red lobsters and trying to "westernize" them Isnt really doing a whole lot if you ask me

Good points. The other problem is that radical Muslims are now living everywhere. It would be impossible to completely erradicate them with weapons. We'd have to bomb our own country

That's a good question. I think I'd put a particular focus on option 2. The people of the region must have a sense of responsibility for their destiny. Identify groups and community leaders in the region (including surrounding nations as they can aid in this option).

Also use option 3 and 4, but with the caveat of including local people. Use a surgical scalpel, not an axe.

I'd also attempt to gain international support for the Kurdish people
. They have shown to be good folks who have maintained semi autonomous regions for years in Iraq, Syria, and Turkey. This will pose a problem as neither countries would want to secede territory but i don't think current Iraq will ever be inclusive of these different ethnic groups

Damn, that's pretty wrong, nitrogen is definitely needed in flower. I try to correct wrong ideas but you are right, it gets tiring

I tend to like option #1. Not because I'm a complete pacifist, but because I think it would be most effective.

I think part of their playbook is to draw us in to another war. They know that they can't "defeat" the American army in the traditional sense of the word, but they can garner support for their cause, and financially drain us dry. The Soviets never recovered from their incursion in to Afghanistan in the 80's. it was the precursor to their downfall.

I firmly believe that if the international community pulled out of the mid east, the infighting would accomplish what we never could. The Sunnis and Shiite's would obliterate one another. We could sit back, REALLY lock down our borders and ports with the troops that we currently have stationed all over the planet, and watch how the chips fall ...... all while not spending a fortune in the process.
