Lesson to be learned here: tie down before flower or in the very early stages. They get more brittle the later into flowering it is.
And what Cold$moke was referring to was Supercropping. You pinch the stems, as he described-gently enough to collapse the stem without actually breaking it. Great way to even out the canopy. But not highly recommended during flowering either, because it causes the plant to focus it's energy on repairing the stem rather than producing flower. As far as thinning out the fan leaves for light penetration. Trim as few fan leaves as possible. But some maintenance to allow light to lower branches is something that has to be done in certain situations. My suggestion would be to place some screws in the walls beside the plants or into some boards that are tall enough, tie a string from some of the main branches to those screws, thereby spreading out the plants and giving you a way to lst them without breaking them. IDK just a thought. (I can't open your pics for some reason, so I really can't see how you have them tied as of now or what-not)
Anyway, your plants look awesome (from what I could see) and can't wait to see what the final harvest ends up being!

Yeah I was able to get em tied down before they really even transitioned fully into flower. Unfortunately access to the middle plants is so limited that trimming would be a HUGE event, so I'm just gonna have to let them grow and what ever happens happens :/

Yeah, I was thinking about getting something like that. I was gonna get a USB microscope so I could take pictures of the trichomes for you guys but those are expensive. Maybe later.... So I'm gonna get one of those pocket microscopes.

Thanks for your input!

Well it felt really bad killing 3 healthy rooted clones, but I think it's gonna be my best option. I put the best 2 in perlite hempy buckets that were about 2.5 - 3 gallons each. I'm gonna do a scrog which should give me a better yield than 5 2 liter hempies would have. By the way the roots were over a foot long so they're already in the hempy res! So explosive growth soon! :D

And here's what the canopy looks like right now. The shorter younger plants stretched to match the adult plants. I know stretching is normally bad but in this case I'm glad they stretched. The uniform canopy should give me a better yield because of the better light distribution.

Gave the perlite hempies their first feeding since their transplant. I gave them RO water after the transplant just to keep them wet, but they just got actual nutrients today. When they grow a couple more inches I'm gonna top them and put in the scrog screen (that I still have to build).

Well I just trimmed 2 of the 5 plants that never got trimmed. It seems like it's gonna make a HUGE difference. There were so many tiny little bud sites buried in the middle getting like no light and just sucking up energy. Gonna do the other 3 in a bit.

But I'm gonna have to do something with the LST on the bigger plants... When I tied them down they grew way out wide sideways... So they're hitting each other and covering the smaller plants. So I have to find a way to pull them in to themselves.

My buds have to be in jars (curing) by the end of January...... So that means the death of those 2 clones since they're not even ready to flower yet, and then there's 8 weeks flower and 2 weeks drying. Oh well

Hey SmerkedOut!

This is a very fancy project and your plants looks really really healthy therefore happy! Just keep up the good work and don't be sad about the clones!

Have you considered trying out other methods besides LST? I'm talking about maybe fimming or topping?

OH don't worry man, it's not like I'm heartbroken or anything. Just wish I didn't have to chop em down is all.

And all 9 of my plants in the bigger tents were topped once.

So buds gain a lot of thickness in the later weeks of flower right? Because I've got a lot of awesome, tall, super hairy buds, but they're not that thick and they don't look very heavy.

Buds!!!!

And here's what the plants look like now that they're all trimmed.

Just ordered 10 femmed Sensi Seeds Skunk #1 seeds. My research said that's one of the best high yielding, potent strains, especially if you get the magic pheno. And apparently it makes a nice main bud, which works perfect since I'm gonna do a SOG next time around. Excited! :bigjoint:

What do you guys think? Should I trim the lower stuff off? Will there be enough light penetration with the 1000w to make them grow or are they a waste of nutrients?
I'm a firm believer in keeping the leaf, they take light and nutes to make food the plant can use and they store processed food to be used later, when the plants done with them it will get rid of them. But then again I have no problem during the first 3wks of 12/12 to chop off lower branches that will produce nothing better than popcorn.

My girls are lightening up and dropping leaves and I'm not even to 6 weeks of flower yet, and haven't flushed yet. I'm increasing the nute strength to hopefully keep their leaves on until flush.

And I know it's almost impossible to answer, but what would you guys guess my yield will be? They're at 5 weeks 6 days of flower in these pictures.

Merry Christmas by the way! bongsmilie
