on another trip we were at Cedros Island in the harbor at the Salt plant at night to make bait. My anchor watch was from 2-4 am. I had specific instructions to wake the Skipper up if the bait stops biting. Well it did but only cause a school of 100# plus Broom tail and goliath grouper moved in. We knocked the piss out of them. When I woke my buddy up for his watch he was bummed I didn't wake him up earlier. Boy I got in a lot of trouble but is was awesome ! I got in trouble 1 for not moving the boat 2 for filling up a half a fish hold with grouper. lol
I seen some stuff I will never forget on the long range boats . We fished yellow tail for 3 days straight on a 5 day with out ever pulling the hook. filled all 5 fish holds. when you looked over the side you would swear you could walk on them. Like cord wood. . Been in 200 # Blue fin bites of the same kind. If you have ever seen that much tonnage under the boat it is something you will never forget.
seen a manaray swim under the boat and our Beam is 26 ft. There was wing tips on each side of the boat.
Goliath
Broom tail
Pargo/dogtooth
I got a 60 # Pargo on a bank outside of Cabo. Every other thing I hooked Rocked me on a button downed 80# outfit.
