Im retired & on top of a pension collect social security from working over 40 yrs, not the $700 a month federal welfare ssi bums collect for adhd so I have all kind of ideas of what cops were like 50 yrs ago , i was alive 50 yrs ago & police were nothing like they are today,nothing at all.

And who are you kiddin sayin cops dont chose what laws to enforce , you cant possibly be that out of reality , i hope not.

Compare " Good Shootings " by the police of our nearest neighboring country & answer your own ignorant question , BWAHAHA.Google could enlighten you allthough i highly doubt it.Other european countries citizens think our police are fuking cavemen compared to police they have at home.

I believe it. Costa Rica heavily relies on tourism.

I'm talking about the vast majority of countries where police can legally do whatever they want with you. Including european countries.

Would you rather chase the same criminals around every day or put them in prison? I would think they commit less crime in prison. Not too many thieves breaking into cars or houses from behind bars. Laws state certain activities which are illegal and outlines some punishments and the severity of the crime. Enforcing law means catching people who have broken the law. I've never thought that a cop's job was to run around preventing crime like he's batman or something.

Maybe in the middle of nowhere the police were friendly bumpkins, but in urban areas they were mean dogs. Falsifying evidence was very easy back then as well. In some areas it was so bad that people refused to speak with the police if they came asking questions about a nearby incident.

Cops as a majority don't choose which laws they can enforce. I've been let go without any charges after being caught with 2 ounces, but I don't expect that to ever happen again.

So you've never been to other countries before or spoken with people from other countries about what their police are like. Got it.
I live in an area with lots of immigrants from various countries around the world. Not too many positive stories about the police.

Dude your out of it , nobody said cops were friendly bumpkins , they are & allways will be savages , the difference in the cop of yesteryear was his training , police were supposed to PREVENT crime & not just to respond to a crime allready committed as you posted , cop's would pull up on a scene with the intent of " How can we help " , now its everybody get your fukin hands up & get out your id's out so we can find anything arrestable , or more importantly fineable with anybody before we even know why you called us , cops used to answer questions posed to them by friends or onlookers , now you dare question a cop as to why your friends being detained & you get told to shut your fucking mouth unless you want to join your friend , dare ask a 2nd time & you get the cuffs & thrown to the ground .

Police did not ID every last person they came in contact with because they followed the 4th amendment , which modern cop's stretch to its very limit & now ID & or detain citizens at will with no explanation ( for THEIR saftey ) what a crock of shit, it WAS NOT like this in the 70's .Also nothings changed with citizens fearing to speak with police , people are less likely nowdays to cooperate with evidence gathering efforts because they know if they try to help their name's getting ran , anything outstanding & off to jail they go for trying to help ,falsifying evidence is even more prevalent today vs 50 yrs ago , cops lie like mother fuckers at trial & only show dash cam footage if it bolsters their case , if it dont work for the prosecution the patrol car is conviently not pointed tword the incident , or there was a recording error , recording errors are extremely common , not great examples on your part .

Once again you say alot without saying anything real , what i mean by that is personal experience on your part , i retired from the largest union construction & management corporation in the US & spent over 30 yrs traveling the US & foriegn countries , i specialized in commercial & industrial building where i worked on, or in later yrs oversaw the projects done on several US embassies & other US held interests from 1972 to 2003 when the FBI or other entity rescinded my ability to be sponsored .

Ive been to many different countries that are friendly & unfriendly to Americans ,Liberia , Angola , Kinshasa , Saudi Arabia , Lebanon ( Met my wife of over 30 yrs in Beirut ) ,Denmark , Austria, Finland , Germany , Netherlands , London in the UK , Costa Rica ( Company owned retreat ) & several different ethnic Canadian provinces such as Quebec , Montreal & Toronto , i live near the Detroit Windsor border & have visited Windsor hundreds of times with friends there, plus I inherited a small property near Windsor in Little River which my family business still owns , ive traveled extensively , seen alot & with the exceptions of Saudi & Angola where we were confined within the compounds i intermixed with the population & with police .

Im not going to make your arguement for you , but like i said earlier google is your friend , research police in Canada , the UK , Denmark ect & see how much less power its police forces apply to respective citizens & how different the detain & question scenarios are , also read up on application of search warrants served on peoples homes , US cop's 4am battering ram swat team methods are not common place & in most cases knock & wait for a response , if a response is made then they wait till homeowners open the door .

Police in Japan routinely fist fight their asses off with suspects fleeing a crime scene , or durring the riots they frequently have & do their jobs without shooting people but our cop's cant .

If it is as where you say a cop's job IS NOT to stop crime then what & the hell are they good for , they aint gonna find the people who B & E our homes or steal our cars because they stopped taking crime scene prints yrs ago, when you call 911 they take hrs to respond , if they come at all ! , then run YOUR name for reporting a crime in progress , just a bunch of legalized gangbangers extorting citizens money to pay up the ladder to their political bosses .

Unfortunatly a lot of what you say is true.
Just like to touch on technology. They know who you are before they pull you over. They have automatic plate readers. Ive been asked by people here why I dont carry ID. I dont have to. They have my photo on their laptop in their car. When I was a kid there was a cop named Burke. he would beat you with a rubber hose. I never got to meet him thank god. It took 40 years but they finally put him in prison. too bad for all the people who confessed to crimes and did time just to stop the beating

Twice I have had damage done to my property and twice the LEOs stopped by wrote some shit down and then did not a fucking thing, even after I gave them video evidence of the crime, the people, and the license plate of the vehicle they used.

Michael Brown’s Mother Facing Accusations of Armed Robbery

Lesley McSpadden, the mother of slain Ferguson teen Michael Brown is facing charges of felony armed robbery after allegedly attacking people in a parking lot who were selling t-shirts with “Justice for Mike Brown” written on the front.

The Smoking Gun obtained a police report yesterday in which McSpadden is identified as one of the “attackers” who not only physically assaulted the individuals in the parking lot, but they stole cash and the merchandise they had in their possession.

What makes this case particularly striking is that one of the individuals selling the shirts, Pearlie Gordon, is the mother-in-law of Brown’s father. She told police McSpadden told her “You can’t sell this shit.” When Gordon refused, McSpadden’s mother, who was also on the scene, started ripping down the t-shirts and the brawl broke out.
