Ok well I been asking for advice from u guys. I was told to use a 5 by 5 tent for 1000 watt. Shud i just use my whole 12 by 10 bedroom instead of wasting money on a tent? And I did read 600s were better. Then ppl using 1000s said no way in hell 600s pull as much weight as 1000s. So I'm confused cuz ppl on this site keep steering me wrong then? I don't know what the fuck to do now. And ill listen to you guys. I don't wanna waste my money. You guys know better than me. I'll try soil first. Steer me in the right direction. What kind of lights shud i set up my 10 by 12 room? Two 600s? Help. I'll listen if you help me. I've seen ppl fail too and don't wanna be that guy after talking so much shit. Lol. The only reason I wanted to do dwc was cuz of pests are less likely and bigger yields and faster growth. But if you wanna steer me away from that I'll listen like I said. What size pots shud i use? I can grow up to 12 plants. Cud I grow 12 soil under 2 600s?
no body has said that 1000 watts don't bring on bigger yields, but to get the benefits from a 1000 watt set up you will need to start looking into CO2 dosing. What you read about all the light wattages is that the 600 watt tends to be the most efficient, best Lumens of light per watt (there is roughly about 10 lumen per watt difference, so not that major but still....). As far as what and how much light you need for the size of area you are growing isn't a definate answer, you will see people claiming that 600 watt is max 4'x4' area and others say 5'x5' area and 1000 watt is max 8'x8' area and others say 9'x9' but there are other factors to consider as well, such as safe allowable distance of light from the canopy due to heat, the use of cooling hoods vs non-cooling hoods, even some ballast and globes change these numbers just as light set ups like the Gavita 600 and 1000 systems, which you have to keep further away from your canopy than normal HPS. Other factors would be what reflective material are you using if any at all.
To be safe I would use the 5x5 tent, but only put a 600watt in there, after a few grows you will see your yields increase as you start to get your plant management more in tune. With some strains on a 5x5 scrog in DWC I can pull a 1.5 pound under one 600 watt light....again this is strain dependent and also takes a lot of training and using multiple techniques to the plant to get to that stage. I just tell you this to let you know it is possible, but don't think its going to happen on your first grow. I recommend staying with the tent because it gives you a rather decent reflective barrier to grab all the lights potential and least likely chance to disturb the plants when they are in flower and its lights out for the plant. Down side to the tent is that it traps the heat and humidity like a bitch from the light so you will need good air exchange and extraction,
