the total cost for all parts to build 2 cxa3070 cobs including shipping comes to $186 dollars, a few months ago I would have shy'ed away from this, mostly for the unknown and the cost, but I have a really good feeling about it now

Well here is what i bought about a month ago, they are 60 watt (350 equiv) cfl's, they sent 6500 K when i ordered 3000k, so I saw my oportunity to return them and get my money back, Thank God i had come changed my mind and decided to go with the CREE CXA3070's, well here is what they looked like, you can see how much larger they are than the Home depot purchased cree 9 watt bulbs, IMG_7542.JPGIMG_7543.JPG

Now the CXA3070 parts are starting to arrive, today I got the power supplies and the cob holders, I hope they are correct, I need to look at the wiring diagrams again, for the A/C hook up, not sure if it matters which wire on the 110 ac input goes to either color since the voltage is alernating? the brown and blue wire are the AC in, IMG_7551.JPGIMG_7552.JPG

i think supra posted this in one of his threads, i saved it :) notice the wider blade on the elec outlet, apparently it does matter. I was going to implement the fuse as well, not sure which size i need at the moment.

AC N is your AC ground
AC Load is AC power

-Both hooked up to the AC mains....

Then.....
V+ and V- go to the Cob holders connectors....

I always fuse between COB and driver [DC side] although, using a fuse, MOV or thermal runaway is fine and suggested on the AC side before ANY components....

Wide blade is Neutral or ground....

Small blade is Load [or Positive]
:peace:

Voltage only varies as a function of current load and heat from the LED itself....nothing to do with the driver, which just produces DC power from AC conversion...

Yes it does matter!

There is most Definitely a specific order!

Thanks for getting back to me, I'll pic y up some fuse , what do you think of inline auto fuses like they use for stereo amps
That's what I use...I have to ask my local shop to order the 1a fuses, which is predominantly what I use....., but I also use 2 and 3 amps versions if the current is over 1 or 2 amps.....:peace:

Hey Tim -- I'm really looking forward to seeing what this cab can do. Indoor growing (especially micro) is part engineering and part farming. I think that's why I enjoy it so much! It's got some design, some science, some life (with all of its randomness and anomalies), and lots of feedback. Good stuff.

you said it man! a lot of people shun cab growing and micro grows, because it does have its complexities and anomalies. I say its aggregate of growing in our conditions because we don't have or want to dedicate the space to growing in an entire room. So yes it does require a lot of forethought and planning to do what we do. We're smarter than they are, just don't tell em I said that8). Tim is gunna do just fine. The reason I know that is because he is without ego, attitude and is an all around nice guy who will listen to people who have his best interest at heart. People like myself Abiqua, Supra and a few others I think of right now ( shame on me ) cant afford to give bad advice about a method of growing that a lot of people think is Fisher Price, tag along.

It is definitely both an art form and a science, as many of the best things are. I appreciate the good company on this thread, and hope that in some way or at some point in time, I have as much of value to share as I'm currently learning from y'all.

and the power supply, adjustable voltage, and plenty of Mah (amps) this heat sink fan power supply could power up several more cobs, so room for expansion later if i ditch the mars light or not?IMG_7559.JPG
