It depends on how rural you live I guess. Also probably has to do with the way counties vote in bonds and levees. 900 a year seems a little ridiculous to me, especially when you factor in how many people live in the community, say a 1000, maybe less, maybe more in some cases. 1000 homes insurance fees equals 900000 a year. That doesn't even guarantee your home would be saved. It seems like a lot for a Volunteer fire dept costs a year. Add in fundraising and donations, quite the racket they have. Not to mention, in most cases fire dept. are the first responders, and in my area run their own ambulance, imagine a 2-3 thousand dollar ambulance ride bill on top of you insurance fee, wowzers. I would rather collectively everyone pay and know they are gonna come no matter what, and also have enough resources to save two homes on opposite ends of town at the same time, but that's just me and libtard thinking right???
