When I got out of the army and went back to college I worked shit jobs; no way was I gonna go back to the folk's home. Dad called me and gave me a dude's #, dude was an exec at a huge construction co(pretty much what you just did).....told me what I needed to do and if I did it he'd hire me. Became a union apprentice carpenter, went to its school and college, always had a good paying gig with $ to spare (paid for college too)

like im not trying to start anything this aint politics but citizens can vote and we still can get us citizens so thats not much of an issue

all the illegals do is perform tedious and important tasks that at a first glance doesnt seem like that much but think about how much shit would go hay wire if we lost most of the workers that pick produce at 5 bucks an hour and can go all day and replace them with people who have to work for 12 a hour and doesn't work but 8 hours a day

Ive seen this many times , its cheaper for your company to allow these crews to BLOW THE JOB OUT & have you fix the defects at $575 a week so the money making crews can get to the next job asap & blow it out , then you correct defects & again the money making crews are blowing out another house in a day , lotsa cash is flowing this way .

Do you see whats going on here ? Your being played at $575 a week fixing punch lists which allows the boss to keep the high production crews moving , your salary is figured into the cost of every project , its an age old scab trick & the company owner knows full well the crews are doing shit work .

I'd bet the farm he's not paying the Mexicans a fair wage as installers which should be $30 to $40 a square depending on how cut up & how much dead work such as valleys , dormers , soil pipes , chimneys , curbs ect , if their illegal workers i'll guarantee he's ripping them off at $15 to $20 a square .

The roofers make 65-90 a square thats new drip edge,rake metal, step and counter flashing, pipe jacks turtle vents, B vents..they make bank dude.

Well shit if there paying $60 a square how come you aint slamming shingles vs repairs , kinda makes no sense .

When i was young i was good for about 20 square a 10 hr day , that'd be $1,200 a day !

If your company is throwing around that kinda cash why on earth are you doing punch lists at $575 a week , at $1,200 a day fuk that company truck start slamming squares with the mexicans & buy a brand new truck in 6 months .

This isnt adding up , at those labor rates the company has to be charging $600 to $700 a square to pay the bills , either way a job change is in order i'd say .

this reminds me, i have a roofing question.

i built a shed this winter, 10x16. half of it is shingled, the other half is covered with those corrugated clear PVC sheets.

what is the 'professional' way to cover that uneven gap between the corrugated PVC and the shingles?

right now i just have a piece of flashing over it, and it works, but it looks ugly as hell.

i was planning on somehow mounting a 2x8 or 2x10 over the gap and putting drip edge over each side of the 2x8. i don't really know what to do though.
