Platinum LED

I just checked that thread from 420 and I can only say wow! The newest and greatest LED grow light ever created? Ha Ha Ha Ha I gonna be laughing histarically! There are def major suckers on 420 that just chose the wrong forums to learn about this tech. That's the problem rite there! Companies paying $ to websites to scam uneducated pepes out there $. LIKE I said before! I would consider buying Platinum,KIND,if they dropped there price 50%. Oh and the warranty service has all gone cob replacement! So your buying 2 year old tech at premium! Don't get suckered into warranty like I did my 1st time! Come on its the same players up top! Apache tech, A51,optic lighting, Amare, I might be missing 1 or 2. DIY also! cant forget about that!
I went on another website and noticed the same thing. They were all rocking Platinums, and other 3 watt old school lights and so excited about it. No mention of COB's or Area 51. Lol I thought it was very strange. This is the only forum where people are discussing LED's.

Jimmy-

I water them 1/2 - 1 gal a day each, for two days straight, then wait until their dry to water again (1 or 2 days).

Jeeyah-

They sprouted around feb 1st. I transplanted them into the 5 gal about March 1st.

I wish I could help more. It could be the strain. Have you grown it before? They look very thick and green. Looks like some nice sativa leaves. If they were lacking light, I think they'd be more stretchy.

The leaves look droopy though. I think that's why Jimmy asked if they were thirsty. I don't really grow in soil so I can only help so much.

Sounds like you are over watering honestly. A plant that is only 2 months old should not be drinking 2 gallons every 2 days especially under LED. Id say in a 5 gallon that at max they would take about 1.5-2 gallons every 3-4 days and only need 1 feeding in that period. These plants do not need as much water as people think. If you see them start to droop after 3 days, give em some water. They will live for a day if you let them go too long and they droop a little. Its better to find their point where they utilize all the water available and let the roots stretch out rather than feed them constantly and over water.

I assumed coco which I run morning feed, night feed from seed, but if its soil based then I agree depends on pot size 1 time a day max. But with limited knowledge of his grow its really hard to tell?

To be completely honest it appears Mark has changed his case completely to deal with the criticism of copying diamond's case. He also has appeared to change the spectrum a bit. Might be worth a shot but do let us know what you think if you go this route!!
i spoke online with eshine a lil while back about the new pled case and spectrum. they said they make those custom and that they would not sell them directly to end user.

@doz What your saying makes sense. When I water however, I only pour until i see evidence of draining on to the bottom. The coco blend is usually mostly dry after a day or two-- there is a noticabe difference in weight of the buckets. But since I have been working out the last couple of months everything I lift seems incredibly light weight....

@jimmy -- the blend I use is 50 coco/ 25 perlite / 25compost and live worms
With the exception of the blue bucket... That's striaght miracle grow potting mix.

Yeah, thats how you should water it. Do the plants begin to droop before you water again? I would water them and leave them till they begin to droop from lack of water. Figure out how long it takes them to consume it all and then water just prior to them drooping once it is figured out.

When they go into flower they get nute solution run through em 4 or 5 times a day! Oh boy ! expert pure blend pro coco schedule get big dense sticky buds! Shit awesome!

I will certainly do this next time around! I have been seeing pretty decent results from my perspective with:

-lateral branching -- exponential growth in a short amount of time
-resiliency --from both constant supercropping and fim'ing procedures
-lushness -- healthy leaf & stem structure and coloring with little signs of nute deficiency
-trainabilty (if such a word exsists!)

If I were to vary my current techniques and methods now I feel I would loose my perspective of what went right or wrong during this grow, preventing me from better understanding the plant in the future. The momentum of this grow is already underway and now I'm just along for the ride! But I tell you this my friend, once this grow is over I plan on doing several things different-- this grow is just me getting back into the swing of things :)

Oh shit ! I think letting platinum off the hook changing this thread to coco growing

I'm not going to argue the fact that the Plat brand is very, very, very similarly named to Advanced. Oh well! I know of two restaurants in my city that have very, very, very similar names but they are both delicious places to eat (even if eating alone because your date went to the other one). And though my grow is far from over, I am hoping to yield a respectable harvest. Time will tell!

Hey Jimmyjimjim, how do you start a journal on this site? Every time I attempt to create one it gives me an error page saying " you do not have permission to do this action".

Its not the fact that advanced and platinum are similar? I am from the mindset that growing high quality meds is hard enough by itself for new growers. It should not give someone a headache trying to sort thru all the led bullshit. A new grower should know that Platinum/Advanced/Blackdog/Kind and couple others are basically hotspot fixtures that cover maybe 50% what they claim for flower. And the price they charge for 2 year old tech! That should keep people away from them. period. For the price these companies charge instead you can have fixtures from Area51 and Optic Lighting. These companies are proven and there people just like us! Do you want old tech? or new tech for same price? There great veg lights though!! The companies that don't follow suit and switch to COB are gonna be long gone in 2 years! So those great warranties will end then also!

I saw in one of the older threads ( Feb 2015) that you yourself own a Kind LED, and some area51s, so does that mean you regret your purchase of the Kind? Have you been swindled? I have read more than a handful of negative reviews of the Kind and I see you have grouped Kind in with the Plats, so I would like your take on it. Has the Kind been able to take you from start to finish?

Here's the deal: When it comes time later in the year when I need grow, , my operation, I will be looking for the best output per $. I recognize that LEDs are the future and with any emerging business/technology/industry there is a lifecycle! We, my friends, are the cutting edge of societal acceptance of this technology. While LEDs have been around for quite some time, it has only been recently where we have been able to harness LEDs for horticultural purposes. There will be a lot of debate for many of the upcoming years over which company/tech is most suitable for cannabis. I for one would like to be a contributing member in determining this decision!

I haven't looked through all of this site, but is there a site-wide competition against all LEDs? By this I mean all other factors being the same, ie pot size, medium, known stable strain, nutes --- a head to head competition against similar power rated LEDs from this site's members?

It's not that they're similarly named. He uses the name "Advanced Platinum Series" on Amazon and uses the same product photo as AdvancedLED.

If it was named "Platinum Advanced Series" then the word "advanced" would be an adjective. But, as the first word it sounds like a product name. Using AdvancedLED's product photos indicate it isn't an innocent mistake.

It's one thing to rip off people with epiwhatever diodes at insanely high prices. But, acquiring customers by pretending to be a reputable company is contemptible.

Yes I do regret buying the KIND K5 750! And yes it does take plants from seed to harvest , But heres the thing. I thought I knew everything about LED tech so I bought my Kind and came on here and said look my new K5 series! Its awesome! Certain people basically laughed at me and told me I got suckered! And then couple people said try a A51 or Apache Tech! So I bought 2 RW150s and they are a better than the K5. I will explain it again why I Platinum/Kind/Blackdog/Cali Lightworks and others alike. The technology they use are 2 to 3 years old. Some like the Platinum are not even using 5 watt chips? are you kidding me? A51 and Optic are 2 generations ahead of Platinum!! And the price for Platinums HotSpot fixtures? The coverage area is a lie on Platinums website! Just look at the height rec. at 18 inches! The P450, A 274 watt flower light! They say at 18 inches the coverage is 4 ft x 4.5ft! HA HA HA. The actual coverage area for the P450 is 2x3 ft MAX......You would have to put the P450at 30+ inches to cover 4 x 4.5ft area! Oh by the way Area51 cover a 2x3 area with 155watts with the RW150!! almost 1/2 the wattage.I could go on! PLATINUM LED spectrum has to many Blues and greens for flowering!! Just not a good spectrum! And I have been reading on 420 that there selling old light models instead of the New updated models with 12 band ? Sorry I don't know about you but I don't want Platinums old models_ shit I didn't want there new ones! At this moment the best LED fixture is Optic Lightings BridgeLux Vero29 or Cree CXA3070 COB units until AREA51 Vero29 UPDATED units come out! OR DIY? There is nothing that compares unless a grower wants The Big Guns >Apache tech? THERE IS SO MUCH CONFUSION DURING THIS TIME! The legit companies are trying to stay afloat until the market situates itself! While others companies are scamming uneducated people out there money with excagerated claims and shit componets!,But great warranty! Warranty Isnt shit this business no more! Its all do it yourself servicing! Imagine if the $ going to Platinum and alike was going to the companies that are gonna be around in 2-3 years! Its hurting the advancement of Horticulure LED tech with companies like These!

I could go on? Platinum uses BridgeLux? Ok maybe for the Blue N whites? What are the others? BridgeLux only makes Blues n Whites! Why don't they advertise we use Epistar or Epiled make in China Too? Why would anyone want there lights????????? Can someone explain???

Can you do that head to head competition for us Between the Optic CXA3070 3000K 80 CRI 200 watt and the PLATINUM P450? Sucks that P450 will have 74 more watts? Did you know that the optic 200watt cob was same price as P450? And yes I was swindled out of 1150 bucks for my KIND!
